If I believed Trump was an existential threat to the Republic, I’d stop attempting to analyze his Adminstration objectively.

I do not.
Why don’t I believe Trump is an existential threat?

Two reasons.

1. Because the US isn’t Russia, or even Turkey. The checks and balances limiting Presidential power—formal and informal—are far stronger.
2. Because Trump’s most notable feature isn’t his authoritarian impulse or his corruption, but his incompetence (which is staggering).
