Turner was facing three to 14 years in prison, but the judge gave him six months in county jail, much to the victim's dismay.
Judge Aaron Persky showed concern for Turner, a star student and champion swimmer, explaining that prison would, quote, "have a severe impact on him.
“Judge Persky is as clueless as the defendant, who seemed to accept responsibility for drinking and, quote, "sexual promiscuity," but not sexual assault.”
The defendant's father, who pleaded for leniency, said his son was already paying a steep price for “20 minutes of action."

Sen Kamala Harris expressed her concerns about the president’s nominees for the federal judiciary, many hold views that outside the mainstream
Mr. Chairman, I believe strongly – and I think we’ve heard that here from our colleagues – that the public’s perception of the fairness of our system of justice will have a direct impact on whether we actually do justice.
If the American people believe when they walk into a courtroom they are not going to receive a fair hearing, receive an unbiased perspective from an officeholder of the court – in particular a judge or justice – then we cannot possibly do justice in our country.
And for that reason, I am deeply concerned that today what we are seeing is this administration’s continued commitment to reshaping our courts for generations to come with nominees that are extreme & outside the mainstream.
In just the first 2 years in this admin, the Senate has already confirmed 85 fed judges, including 2 Supreme Court justices. Today we are considering 44 more nominees to the federal courts. if confirmed, they’ll represent 1 out of 20 lifetime appointed federal judges in the US.
And it’s not the number of judges that are being confirmed that concerns me as much as the number of extreme judges that are being confirmed. Bc let’s be clear – and my colleagues
