When I was young it was very easy to stumble across the WEIRD internet. Forums full of brilliant and strange people having meaningful or interesting discussions. If you joined, you could learn from them, maybe make friends for life.

Now people with strange opinions are mostly anon or do not speak at all. Bless Twitter because it is the closest thing we have to that now in the public sphere.

Otherwise I think most good web-spaces have retreated into secret slacks, DM groups, email lists, etc.

We must always hope to protect and cultivate the Weird, wherever they still may exist. If they still exist at all.
