I remembered not to have breakfast this morning, but even so, five setups on a scene with Full English has left me never wanting to look at another black pudding #ACGAS #TheLivingIsQueasy
Just passed Dent station on the Settle and Carlisle line, on the way to #ACGAS filming. The highest in England, in one of the most remote places in Britain.
You can stay here, and itâs lovely, but if you do, by far the best way in and out is by train http://www.railwaystationcottages.co.uk/dent-station/ ">https://www.railwaystationcottages.co.uk/dent-stat...

Had to say âHold on a minuteâ in a scene today. Turned it into âHang on a minuteâ in one take. Script Supervisor queried it - quite right too, as it turns out. âHang onâ only common post-70s (weâre set in 1937).

A standby costume person has just said âLook at me, stood watchinâ like cheese at fourpence.â
A Lancashire (or Yorkshire?) dialect phrase meaning âleft waitingâ: cheese was rarely as expensive as 4d and anything priced that dear was likely to sit there unbought. I love it #ACGAS

From our #ACGAS base this morning. Dales waterfalls swollen by recent rain
Dressing for filming days in autumn is like going back to school. You get up when itâs still dark and put on a warm uniform. Nobody sees or cares what you wear, so thereâs no aesthetics involved.
Then you get to work and take all your clothes off again. Itâs very odd #ACGAS

Best bit of a full #ACGAS filming day: waiting for a highly trained cat to lie down. Burly gaffers, sparks, camera crew, sound department all tiptoeing about while we stroked it to sleep. Got the shot. Onward!
First dipper of the #ACGAS shoot today, perched in a tumid stream.

Todayâs location. #YorkshireDales, thou art truly something else.

A 1935 17 HP Armstrong-Siddeley on set today still had its original manual.
The A-S Sphinx mascot changed over the years - from 1932 it was âcouchantâ, modelled on the Thames Embankment ones #ACGAS

âAll over the world, and in many languages, you can listen to the truth from London.â Those were the days.
Curiously comforting BBC propaganda from this 1930s edition of FRIENDS OF MANKIND, an RSPCA publication. Set dressing from #ACGAS

Morning all. Earliest start so far for #ACGAS, stealing daylight from the end of the day. Itâs pissing down in the Dales. How is everyone?
Remember that waterfall a few tweets back? Here it is this morning.

Talking to Paul, our #ACGAS driver. As a child, he remembers loving a production of A Midsummer Nightâs Dream in Berlin âwith a white wall and a couple of trapezesâ.
He only saw Brookâs Dream, probably the most famous production of the 20th C, on its 1972 world tour, didnât he?

Presumably in 1928 it was felt that nobody needed a longer one.

Quite a find on the #ACGAS set: a love letter from Manoel in Esmoriz, Portugal to his âdarling girlâ, 2/12/1919. 100 years old this Friday.
He writes âThere is none here yet for whom I would feel as I felt that day (July 19th) when I left you in that car in Leicester station.â

âNow that I am away, those boys have at last had a chance and carried you⊠I dare say those motor-bykes & what nots could not be resisted...
Still my violin is there near you; & perhaps sometimes you will see me if you hold it? âŠHave you got a piano in the house?â
Poor Manoel
