Do you ACTUALLY look out of place, awkward, uncomfortable, embarrassed, and self-conscious in social settings and conversations or are those just emotions you force onto yourself every time you leave your house? For all everyone else knows, you’re just a person sitting in a room.
Is your anxiety, awkwardness, the idea everyone is watching/judging you truly happening or did you just walk in the room and start immediately creating that fantasy? The only person who decided there was something “wrong” in that moment was... you. Are you sure that was reality?
Did you ever stop to ask yourself why you immediately begin to create this fantasy and relive it throughout the entire night until you’re miserable or did you just decide you’re broken and that’s how it’ll always be? I hope not.
Friendly reminder that social anxiety only lives in your head. Shyness to the point that it hinders you only lives in your head. The idea that everyone is watching only lives in your head. The idea that everything you say/do is wrong or silly or an embarrassment is make believe.
Ask yourself if you TRULY don’t enjoy social settings or if this overactive imagination of yours is what you actually don’t like? Ask yourself if people are TRULY viewing you this way or if this is actually how you view yourself? Where can you be accountable in this?
And the ironic part is that when you BELIEVE you’re awkward and unlikeable and lacking in confidence — that is EXACTLY how you begin to come across. Remember, your perception is your REALITY. You can only give what you’ve convinced yourself that you have. Switch up the narrative.
Last one, friendly reminder that you can literally start believing you’re amazing and comfortable and standing happily in your own truth and energy by the time you finish reading this tweet. You believed all the other stuff that makes you unhappy, why not try out the good stuff?
