Kinda want to make a thread on some of my fav movies so here it goes. First up, “Whiplash.” Just watch it. Great movie for those who love music/thrillers. (Not on a streaming service rn)
2nd movie: “Life Animated.” Heartfelt movie about an autistic boy who grew up and learned how to communicate through animated films. (On Amazon)
3rd, “Hot Fuzz.” Talk about comedic genius, so many good lines lol (Not on a streaming service anymore except pay to play)
4th, “The Truman Show.” One of Jim Carrey’s best performances. This movie floored me the first time I watched it leaving me in a transcendental state. (Just get utorrent at this point lmfao)
Anything by David Fincher is worth being on this list but The Social Network has a special spot. It’s not just about the rise of fb, but a story about friendship, betrayal, and success all wrapped up in a “modern” take. Not to mention the soundtrack is great.
6th Take Me Home Tonight
An homage to the 80s. It’s a movie about feeling lost - something I relate to too often lol (On Netflix)

Btw I should mention these aren’t listed in a certain way like a “top 10 movies of all time.” The numbering is indefinite.
7th Stranger than Fiction
A mundane mans life becomes narrated all of a sudden leading him to a clue on what’s to come. Don’t watch the trailer, it reveals too much imo (On Amazon)
8th Booksmart
I gotta be honest this one surprised me. I went in expecting a teen drama, but it caught me off guard with how real it was and that’s always the best right? To build a world. (On Hulu)
9th Downloaded
Documentary about Napster. It’s wild to think we wouldn’t have what we have online today without them not only changing the music industry forever, but also the way we adapt.
(First 14mins on youtube https://bit.ly/351JDsk )
10th Big Hero 6
I love when a story can only be told through animation, utilizing its medium to the fullest. This is the only movie on this list so far that has made me cry lol (Disney+)
11th Wonder
Movie about growing up, feeling like an outsider. Made my MEXICAN dad cry with this one - if that’s not a good sign idk what is lol (On Hulu)
12th Boyhood
Probably the most relatable movie on this list for me. Every aspect of this film I trace back to my life. Plus the soundtrack is killer
13th Shawshank Redemption
If you haven’t seen this my god am I envious of you getting to experience it for the first time. (On Netflix)
14th Dear Zachary
You will not be the same after watching this. This documentary will fuck you up. You will cry. You will be angry. You will feel helpless. Even with all these warnings I still feel like it’s necessary to see. (On amazon, on youtube https://bit.ly/2QwAy6h )
15th Rango
A bizarre masterpiece. Only movie on this list I’ve seen back to back in the same week. Surprised how well the animation holds up after 9 years; that’s all thanks to ILM going for a photographic look. (On amazon video)
16th Speed Racer

I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews on this one and I can see why; no one has ever seen a movie quite like this. So heavily stylized that you would think It’s an acid trip captured on a film roll. No surprise there coming from the people who made the matrix.
17th The Incredibles

I HAD to put my favorite Pixar film on here because some of you already know lol. This movie is so well paced, written, and shot I could never get enough. I’ve rewatched it so many times.
18th Your Name

Ever since I watched this a couple years ago it’s lingered within my mind. I recently rewatched it to see if it still holds up and yea it does lol. I need to binge this studios content cause the animation on this is next level. (On Amazon to rent)
19th Spider-Verse

I gotta a little ʰⁱᵍʰ today and decided to revisit this and yeah it deserves to be on the list for my own timeline lol. If you haven’t watched it, you’re missing out. This 1 combines so many genres and cultures. Every frame is a painting. (On Netflix)
