here's the thing, i get that there's a thirty year difference between the two supposedly female skeletons (80 & 50) but if the older was a man & the younger was a woman, archaeologists would immediately assume a relationship. but with same sex, they assume royal/servant

the problem with cold-calling Viking historians & asking why no one has considered a queer couple for the Oseberg ship is that I’d feel like a dumbass. I’m NOT a Viking historian & my lack of knowledge could mean there’s an obvious answer I’m missing. Or maybe that’s BS! Idk!

If anyone knows any Viking scholars who would be willing to answer a couple questions ab the culture, especially if they’re queer, I’d really appreciate it so I can suss this out a bit. Even if I can be pointed more in the right direction past the Great Courses & my own googling
