THREAD: It's Friday and I can't stop thinking about all the flaws with the USG bio-containment facility depicted in the opening of the 1994 made for TV mini-series version of Stephen King's "The Stand."

First of all, who puts base housing ON TOP of an underground military biocontainment facility?

That ventilation system does not look like it has proper HEPA filtration. In fact, those look like oil or natural gas pipes, not air pipes. Compare to the interim ventilation system at WIPP (right), for example.

Who left this numpty Charlie Campion in charge of ALL CONTAINMENT? Why is it up to one guy to “seal the base”? Especially when his family is living directly above the facility he is now charged with sealing?

And so Campion goes to rescue his family. I mean who could have foreseen this turn of events? Who is the biosafety officer in charge of this facility!?

Also I question whether the storage of those compressed gas tanks on the right is OSHA compliant.

Apparently that gate is supposed to “seal the base”? A chain link fence is not considered an engineering control against a dangerous pathogen, according to CDC guidelines. And Campion escapes, of course. Because not only is it a gate, it's a janky gate.

So now the camera pans inside facility… and what kind of door is that? Is that secondary containment? I mean, I guess it worked because dude can’t get out.

A white lab coat is not considered appropriate PPE for what I can only assume is a BSL 4 facility. No wonder everybody is super dead.

I do kind of love how all these scientists appear to have dropped dead on the spot. I mean it’s more consistent with a CW attack than a deadly bioengineered flu pathogen… but I’ll allow it.

WAIT WHO LET YOU BRING THAT PING-PONG TABLE DOWN HERE?!?!

I understand that it's Armageddon.

I know that it's divine will.

But COME ON!!
