My newest obsession is hybrid fics and it shows lol
But seriously, imagine alpha wolf hybrid Katsuki having such a hard time being adopted and kept.

Like lots of rich people adopt him constantly because he’s such a rare and beautiful hybrid with his wheat coloured fur, but he is always returned within a week due to his behaviour.
So imagine his annoyance when once again he’s been selected to be adopted, this time by a younger woman who looks extremely eager to snatch him up.

He’s seen it before, the cooing over his colouring and size (just over 5 1/2 feet when most bigger dog hybrids are lucky to make+
It to 5) and the rolling of eyes at the sellers warnings of his more... unsavoury nature.

The woman just smiled before laughing lightly. “I’ve owned a wolf hybrid before.”

Katsuki’s ears perked up at that. Would this one actually be different? He scowled at the thought.
He wouldn’t even begin to allow himself to hope. Like always he’d just be back at the pound within a week.

“Are you sure?” The man questioned, uncertainty seeping into his voice. “He’s not exactly a cheap breed to own.”
It was the woman’s turn to scowl. “Just because I’m not as wealthy as any of your other customers doesn’t mean that I can’t take care of him. If anything, I’m probably more prepared.”
Her gaze shifted to Katsuki, who was currently sitting on the cot in his sell facing the wall. “If anything,” she spoke gently, “all anyone really needs is a good dose of love.”
She watched the hybrids tail swish lightly at her words, his ears twitching as he pretended nothing she said matter. She smiled to herself. Her son Eijiro, the ball of sunshine that he was, was going to absolutely adore this one.
Eijiro always had this innate way of taming any beast, whether they were human or not.
(Hybrids in the AU are like fauns and satyrs in build, so top half human and lower half whatever anime species they are)
Before long Katsuki was being lead out of his cell and to his newest temporary home by the short dark haired woman. His fingers fiddled with the thick leather collar around his neck, huffing in displeasure at the almost restricting feeling.
He should have been used to it by now —it was the same one he always wore when he was adopted— but it just spurred his beliefs even more that he would soon be returning.
When the woman lead him by his leash to the beat up looking faded blue car across the parking lot, his brows drew together in confusion.

Every vehicle he’d ridden in before was kept to a much higher standard, was much brighter in colour and sleeker in style.
He glanced towards his newest owner. Money was never something Katsuki had concerned himself with before —hybrids, though human like in many aspects, such as intelligence, were almost never treated as anything more than pets.
Besides, any owners he’d had before had clearly never been short of the stuff.

So it baffled him that a human who could apparently afford the price tag associated with him somehow could not afford proper upkeep on her car.
Ms Kirishima smiled as she opened the back door to her car. “Get in and I’ll take you home sweetie.”

Katsuki gave her an unimpressed snort as he crossed his arms over his chest, remaining rooted to the spot a couple of feet away.
Mira Kirishima raised an eyebrow in question. “What? My car not good enough for you?”

Katsuki rolled his eyes. Mira’s smile widened. “So you understood me, huh?”

Katsuki bristled. He’d picked up human speech at a young age, much to the displeasure of many an owner.
As pets, hybrids were rarely taught human speech. Maybe people would feel to guilty if they could actually understand them.

“It’s okay,” Mira’s expression softened. “It’s good that you know. It’ll make things easier.”
Katsuki’s ears twitched in interest. His curiosity peeked at her words. It would make what easier exactly?

“Can you talk as well?” Mira’s eyes looked hopeful.

Katsuki scowled but remained silent. He wouldn’t let her words entice him. Speaking was never allowed.
Mira hummed slightly in disappointment. “That’s okay. You’ll learn in time.”

Her smile returned once more. “Don’t worry though, your still welcome in our home either way. You’re a part of the family now Katsuki. Oh, I’m Mira Kirishima, your new mama.”
Katsuki has to restrain himself from gagging at her chipper attitude. He glanced towards the open car door once more.

“It’s okay,” Mira have him an encouraging smile as she tugged lightly on his leash. “It’s perfectly safe, I promise.”
Katsuki huffed in annoyance before clicking his tongue as he slowly shuffled towards the car. It wasn’t like he had much of a choice.

“Good boy,” Mira cooed as he crawled into the back seat.
Katsuki mentally cursed as his tail automatically thumped against the backseat at the praise.

He sat to in the middle of the back seat, waiting obediently for the car leash to be attached to his collar, only for surprise to shoot through him as Mira buckled him in.
He tugged at the seatbelt in confusion as it adjusted to his frame.

Mira stifled a laugh. “The ‘dog seatbelts’ that you’re used to aren’t safe. You need this or you’ll be badly hurt if we get into an accident.”
Katsuki grunted his understanding, though his brows were still draw together in confusion. Normally he’d have free range of the back of whatever vehicle he was throw into, and being tethered so finally to the seat made him anxious.
Mira made her way to the front seat as Katsuki began to take in the new scents that surrounded him. If anything he wanted to at least be used to them by the time he made it to his newest home.
The car was mainly filled with the scent of the woman in the front, but he quickly picked out a distinct scent that tickled his nose and drew his attention. It was similar to the woman, yet sweeter, more comforting.
His brows knit together as he mulled this over. Omega? He tried to lean closer to the seat, growling when the seatbelt obstructed his investigation.
Mira glanced back at him through the rear view mirror, watching as Katsuki tried and failed to tear through the belt with his freshly trimmed claws.

“It’s okay,” Mira soothed. “The ride won’t be long, I promise.”
Katsuki growled in frustration, choosing to ignore her attempt at comforting words and he discovered that the belt could allow him to move more if he moved it slow enough.
It felt like a lifetime before he was able to bend down enough to bury his nose into the dusty seat.

He took in a deep breath through his nose, separating the scents of living from the sweetness. His alpha purred at the scent. Sweet, so sweet, like fresh citrus.
Mira’s laughter had him shooting back up to a sitting position, his lips pulled back over his canines as a growl slipped out.
She covered her mouth with her hand, trying to quell her amusement. “You must be smelling my son. He’ll be done with school shortly after we get home, so you won’t have to wait long to meet him.”

Her son? Katsuki’s brain worked to try and decipher her words.
No no, that didn’t seem right. She must have another hybrid at home.

“Omega?” The word slipped from Katsuki’s lips before he could stop it. He braced for the woman’s reaction, glad that he was out of hitting range.
Mira’s hand fell from her mouth as her face lit up. “So you do speak!” She laughed lightly. “You’ll see when we get home. Ei will be so thrilled to meet you.”
————

Katsuki winced as he was released from the car. He’d thought that the car looked bad, but it was nothing compared to the small house that stood before him.

What colour was it supposed to be, exactly? The paint was peeling drastically in places and a tarp was thrown over+
A small section of the roof. The front garden was unruly, and while the grass was extremely long, it was littered with various toys and rocks.

He looked to his new owner. This had to be some kind of sick joke.
“Now I know that it may not look like much,” Mira gave him a tight lipped smile. “But it’s home, and what we lack in money we make up for with love and friendship.”

Katsuki scoffed. This woman had to be insane. How the hell did she even come up with the money to buy him?
A slight tug on his leash and he was following Mira through the half rotting wooden fence that surrounded her home.

Katsuki scrunched his nose in distaste as the gravel path felt uncomfortable under the pads of his paws. He had to be careful lest an especially sharp rock appear.
What he wasn’t expecting was the sight that greated him upon entering the “house”.

He’d expected it to be similar in appearance and upkeep as the outside.

He’d been wrong.
Bright colours attacked his eyes upon entering, vibrant greens, reds coupled with pale yellows and deep purples.

There wasn’t much accounting for taste, but the inside was clean and filled with a much higher concentration of the pleasant citrus scent he’d smelt in the car.
Katsuki’s nose twitched as he automatically tilted his chin up, sniffing the air. His ears shifted as he listened for any stray sounds from inside the house, his search coming up empty.
Mira quickly swapped her shoes for slippers before reaching up to unleash Katsuki.

His snarled and snapped at her fingers, just barely missing as she pulled her hand back, frowning.
“Now Katsuki, that’s no way to treat your new mother,” she tsked. “I’m just trying to let you have a chance to explore before Eijiro gets home and attaches himself to you.”
Katsuki stiffened. By the sounds of it, her son was a small child. He hated children.

They always tried to tug on his tail, ears and fur, and he’d be punished for defending himself of it didn’t earn him and immediate trip back to the pound.
He was beginning to hate the idea of being here even more.

“Hate kids,” Katsuki muttered to himself as Mira once again reached out to unhook him, clearly unfazed by his initial reaction.
