Labor force participation rate for men:

This chart should make your eyes pop.

Look at the downward trend over time and then look closely at what happened in 2008-2010.

Forget about the unemployment rate.

THIS is the real metric.
Now look at this chart for college by gender

These are tectonic forces. The world is changing shape.

We need a cultural and societal upgrade to handle these changes because right now we don't even have common language to articulate the crisis.
- Fewer men are working
- Real wages are stagnant
- Drug overdoses are spiking
- Marriage rates are down
- Household formation rates are down
- Fertility rates are down

these trends do not bode well for the future
Marriage rates:

CRIPES
The standard solution, "go to college" doesn't solve anything anymore.

What are 'regular' dudes supposed to do?

The state of affairs for men is a flipping disaster.

Now add in a ton of new immigration, change the literal face of America, and what do you think will happen?
Nationalism gives people meaning to their lives. It helps them feel like they're part of a machine that is doing good things.

A rise in nationalism isn't necessarily xenophobic but it is more likely related to a search for meaning in a world that has stripped all meaning away.
If you work less, have more debt, don't have a relationship, aren't forming a household, aren't going to have kids, + all the answers people throw at you are useless...

you've basically had all semblance of meaning stripped away from you.

we're all experiencing this on some lvl
Important to point out that the nonparticipation rate increased for prime aged men, and especially for those with only a high school degree.

labor force polarization (a fancy way of saying globalization induced offshoring) is partly to blame

we exported these men's jobs
Some people have said I was scapegoating immigrants for this crisis. Absolutely not.

What I said was that if you strip away all meaning in man's life and change his community/culture and call him a Nazi for loving America -

What the f*ck do you think is going to happen?
@EPoe187 and I address this loss of meaning and how to form a more compassionate hierarchy in this excellent podcast:

The system is too complex to manage with confidence.

Best thing for 99% of us to do is hunker down, form strong communities, build a powerful network, and commit to a life of helping each other.
