The story of Asmera, & in essence the story of #Eritrea itself, is our Women.

Centuries before they picked up arms to liberate their country along with their brothers, they said Enough to division & United us.

Our very capital is a testament to their leadership.

"Some oral sources date the existence of Asmera as far back as 982 BC.

While written sources on parchments in the ancient language of Ge& #39;ez confirm that Asmera was once a flourishing trade centre & the venue for meetings for those seeking Reconciliation & Justice."

#Eritrea
"The Legend of the founding of Arbate (4 Villages) Asmera is an interesting tale characterised by the customary #Eritrea|n tradition of reconciliation.

Founders of the 4 met & demarcated the land.

East went to Geza Shilele
West G/ Asme& #39;a
North G/ Guratom
South G/ Sirinsir."
"Presence of large numbers of fierce wild animals, slave traders from the coast who frequently raided highlands & kidnapped children/sheperds caused great anxiety.

To tackle this, they agreed to cooperate on defence. Each village elected guards, called Leiti Deretom."

#Eritrea
"From strategic points on the periphery of each village, the guards would raise a lit torch to warn & notify people to confront their enemies.

With an effective alliance in place, the Women from each village gathered on November 29th, 1507 to discuss full Unity."

#Eritrea
"Idea was unanimously accepted & a committee was formed to chose name of the unified village.

It& #39;s decided that since the women initiated it, it would be appropriate to christen it in their honor.

Hence, "Arbate Asmera", the 4 Women who made their Brothers Unite!"

#Eritrea
Now, 5 centuries later, we& #39;ve wild beasts roaming our lands again. Abducting our people, enslaving our youth, & tearing the fabric of our nation to pieces.

But #Eritrea|ns from every corner of that land & beyond are saying Enough. #Yiakl

Differences aside.

Reconcile.

Unite.
