- on April 8, 1993, she became the first Hispanic woman in the WORLD to go to space. In 2013, she became the 1st Hispanic director of the Johnson space center in Houston, Texas
Sylvia Rivera 🇻🇪🇵🇷
- she’s a mixed race of Venezuelan-Boricua trans woman. She was a LGBT activist who fought tirelessly fought for trans right. With the amount of fighting she did , Sylvia’s place and the Sylvia Rivera Law Project were name after her fighting the T in LGBT
Luis Miramontes 🇲🇽
- to those who are on the pill, give a big shoutout to this guy because this mexican chemist the one who created birth control and has been receiving multiple recognitions and is the top 40 most important inventions

- Puerto Rican actress has built an award-winning career in all types of films (West Side Story, Electric Company, etc.) and became the first Latina to be elevated to have won a Peabody, Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award

- coming from the bronx, she graduated from Princeston and Yale to become the first US District Court Judge, and then Supreme Court. She’s the first Latina Supreme Court justice in US history
Isabel Perón 🇦🇷
- The first Latin America’s first female president. Her husband at the time was the president of Argentina and after suffering series of heart attacks , he passed away and she took in charge until she was forced to move to Spain in 1976
Guillermo Gonzales Camarena 🇲🇽
- this Mexican electrical engineer invented of a color-wheel type of color television. He also introduced color television to the world
Selena Quintanilla 🇲🇽🇺🇸
- As we all know the queen of Mexicano Tejano music. She’s one of the most influential Latin artist of all time winning a Grammy in 1993 and a gold record in 1994

- from Carolina, PR , she was a successful poet in PR but struggled to get her work in the US. She was proud to be the Afro-Latina she was and her work inspired many upcoming poets

- you’ve probably seen her on your tv screen once in your life. She’s the longest running female news anchor on US television and the 1st latina to recieve a lifetime achievement Emmy. She has always used her platform to cover issues that affect Latinos
Frida Kahlo 🇲🇽
- she’s one of the worlds famous artists and activist during the Mexican revolution. Though she dealt with many struggles during her life, it didn’t make her stop doing what she did best, PAINT
Vico C 🇵🇷
- also known as the “father of reggaetón”. He was born in NY but raised in Puerto Rico. He started his rapping career in 1985 by making his homemade tapes and sell them out to all kind of people and this led to the uprising of reggaetón
Esteban Bellán 🇨🇺
- from Havana, Cuba , he became the first latin-born player in a top professional league. He moved back to Cuba to educate those the games (he’s not the first to teach Cuba) pero with his career many people were inspired by him
Lleana Ros-Lehtinen 🇨🇺🇺🇸
- the 1st Latina to be in the US House of Representatives; the 1st latina and the 1st Cuban-American in Congress; and the 1st woman to ever be chair of regular committee of the House
Dr. Domingo Liotta 🇦🇷
- the creation of this aregentino inventor is displayed all over the world to see the importance of it. He gifted himself by doing the procedure of the first artificial heart (that he created) to be transplanted
Roberto Enrique Clemente 🇵🇷
- Roberto played right field for 18 seasons in the MLB for the Pirates. He became a hall of fame in 1973 , becoming the first Latin American and Caribbean player to be enriched
José Ferrer 🇵🇷
- from Puerto Rico, he's the first Latino and Hispanic person to be nominated for and win an Oscar, receiving a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for Joan of Arc and winning Best Actor for Cyrano de Bergerac.
Octaviano Larrazolo 🇲🇽
- He was elected to the Senate in 1928, becoming the first Hispanic to be elected as the US senate. He became ill soon after taking office and died just six months into his term. But the unfortunate end didn’t prevent him from making his mark in history

Alfonso Teofilo Brown 🇵🇦
- from Colón, Panama , Alfonso was a Panamanian professional boxer. He made history by becoming the 1st Hispanic World Champion and is know 1 of the greatest boxers in history
Cesar Chávez 🇲🇽🇺🇸
- Union leader and labor organizer Cesar Chavez was born near Yuma, Arizona. Chavez dedicated his life to improving the treatment, pay and working conditions for farm workers. He co-created the United Farm Workers Union #SiSePuede
José “Chepito” Áreas 🇳🇮
- a famous percussionist who played in the rock group Santana for 2 stints. He’s now a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and remains a favorite in Nicaragua
Carlos Santana 🇲🇽
- From Autlán, Mexico, Santana has worked his to becoming a world famous guitarist. His group, “Santana” has won 10 Grammies and 3 Latin Grammies. In 1998, the group was ushered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

- a retired Ecuadorian race walker. He has won the only two medals his country has ever achieved in the Olympic Games. He won the gold medal at the 1996 Olympics, becoming the youngest-ever gold medal winner in the 20 km walk event. (He knew how to WALK)
