This week, we were at the 62nd National Council on Health meeting in Asaba. Our focus for this year was to introduce our state-level strategy of 5 critical components, to State Commissioners of Health- most of them newly appointed

In 2018, we began a project to support every State in Nigeria with a Public Health Emergency Operations Centre. This is to provide a coordination platform for the state to prepare for & respond to outbreaks.

This has been done in 20 states, with the goal to complete in Q1 2020
We’ve prioritised the roll-out of @sormasNG as the digital tool for case-based disease surveillance

Every roll-out involves the provision of a tablet, yearly data subscription, training & mentorship for surveillance officers in the state.

Goal- To deploy across #Nigeria Q1 2020
We have a strong laboratory network for Lassafever, yellow fever and measles in #Nigeria.

A major priority for us is to ensure every state has a public health laboratory for basic bacteriology diagnosis, networked to our National Reference Lab for advanced diagnosis
State level officers are critical for #healthsecurity. We’re building their capacity to be better prepared to respond to disease outbreaks.

Our new Integrated Training for Surveillance Officers in Nigeria (ITSON) will begin in Q1 2020. Zonal RRT training completed in 4 zones
Finally, we are building a concise plan for institutional strengthening for all States. Our promise is to be responsive to the needs of all States.

But, we need our state governments to show increased commitment and ownership in addition to @NCDCgov ‘s support
