Ibn Taymiyyah proposes an extremely innovative and exciting theology, rejecting the notion of an abstract, static, "necessary being" arbitrarily legislating existence and morality in one single fixed act of will. /1
Rather, a loving, dynamic, God, perpetually and eternally changing with His creation (by His sovereign choice), seeking benefit for and averting harm from His creation.

Of course, there are significant issues with his theology, and much that can be said in defence of the /2
views he opposes.

But in the systematic, philosophical, vision of Islam he develops, there is much food for thought - and the vast opening up of possibilities for our theologising today. /3
Three threads posted by @ThusSpokeKurdi, containing book excerpts from @jhoover04's work on Ibn Taymiyyah, outline his thought well.

I would add to this Ibn Taymiyyah's belief in universal salvation, his critique of deductive logic in favour of analogical reasoning and a strident nominalism, and some of his egalitarian and anti-traditional thought as also forming coherent parts of this theological structure /7
If I can find good excerpts outlining those ideas of Ibn Taymiyyah and how they fit into his overall vision, I'll add them here. 8/8
My favourite passage from Jon Hoover in the above excerpts.

What a contrast from the conception of God as the Platonic form of a Shahanashah so popular in much Muslim theological and lay thinking!
