KPOP: an introductory thread for @_mirandahull & @AustinHull23 (or anyone else interested) 😅
Red Velvet: Check out "The Red" & "Perfect Velvet" albums

They're marketed as having 2 sounds: 'Red' being more pop sounding and 'Velvet' being more RnB
Favorite songs from discography: Oh Boy, Talk to Me, Kingdom Come
EXO
Album: Love Me Right & The War

Vocals on point and they work @LDNNOISE on a lot of their songs

Fav songs: Hurt, One and Only, Love Shot
TWICE (aka the cutesy side of Kpop)
Album: Fancy You (their best cohesive album)

They have really catchy choruses/dances and their MVs are fun to watch

songs: Fancy, Likey, Strawberry
(one more for the night)
Seventeen
(haven't actually listened through a whole album. 😅)

Very performance based, they're "thing" is being self-made: producing/choreo

Songs: Clap, Home, Don't Wanna Cry
Song honorable mention: Change Up and Check-in
MonstaX
album: The Clan

EDM driven, trap beats during the rap parts, sprinkle of RnB

songs: Beautiful, Party Time, Myself
LOONA
album: [+ +] & [ X X ]

Fairly new group, you'll most likely hear a lot of genres in their stuff (12 solo songs/3 unit EPS)

songs: Jinsoul solo, Kim Lip solo, Satellite
NCT (U/127/Dream)
Albums: Limitless, We Boom

Experimental sounds, typical trap based raps, RnB vocals, NCT Dream has a fresher sound compared to the other 2 units

Songs: Whiplash, My First and Last, Baby Don't Stop
Chungha
Album: Flourishing

Amazing soloist of this current kpop era, very clear sounding vocals

Songs: Rollercoaster, Gotta Go
Would this be a complete thread without BTS?

album: Young Forever, Love Yourself: Answer

They have one of the best discographies among kpop artists (b-sides go hard)

songs: Coffee, Lost, House of Cards(full), Serendipity(full), Autumn Leaves, Cypher 4
Quickies:
Seventeen came out with a song called Fear which is totally different sounding from what I mentioned before (dark and vibey)

Twice came out with Feel Special and the lyrics are really touching for a dance track/the song 21:29 is probably they're best slow song to date
iKon

Albums: New Kids Repackage, Welcome Back

Their sound is hip-hop/EDM based but they dabble in other genres too

Songs: Bling Bling, Love Scenario
Winner

Album: Our Twenty Four, Exit:E

Pop sounding, their recent singles have had a tropical beat to them...their sound was indie(?) at the beginning of their career

Songs: Really Really, Empty, Sentimental
AKMU

Albums: Spring

Sibling duo who do it all: write, compose, produce. VOCALS ON POINT, they will pull at your heartstrings

Songs: Dinosaur, Re-Bye, How can I love the heartbreak, you're the one I love
GOT7

High energy songs, pop and EDM

Songs: If You Do, Lullaby, Teenager
Straykids

Album: Clé 1: MIROH

Dark EDM sounds, basses boosted lol, fast raps

Songs: Victory Song, Get Cool, My Pace, Double Knot
Rising Rookies

1) Itzy: bright, pop sounds, structurally very kpop sounding: space for dance break

Songs: Dalla Dalla, Icy, Cherry
2) Ab6ix

Funky/dance pop, low-key tropical house sounds (I don't much about their sound overall lol but they had a good debut)

Songs: _And Me, Pretty (they also appeared in a truth hurts remix)
3) #X1

Versatile sound, more on the pop side, great raps and vocals

Check out Woodz/Luizy for one of the member's solo stuff

Songs: EVERYTHING off their debut album, plus To My World, U Got It, and Pretty Girl (lol)
Tbh, I'm super biased on this because my man is in this group 😬 but nonetheless, great rookies from 2019
