There was a Shaykh who, like Jahm ibn Safwan, believed the Hellfire would eventually end, do you know who this Shaykh is?

Hint: He is adored by many today *cough* Albani did refute him though.

The first page from Shaykh al Islam Taqi-uddin as-Subki's refutation on the one who says the hell or heaven ends. He cites Ibn Hazm's arrival at the conclusion that there is consensus on this, and who denies is a kafir /1

Now. The Shaykh, unfortunately, is Ahmad bin Taymiyyah rahimahullah, this is whom Subki authored the book against, subki already refuted him in his well known work on the ziyara to the Prophet ﷺ.

Shaykh Albani preformed tahqiq on as-San'ani's refutation of Ibn Taymiyyah. As-San'ani' adored by Salafis today, was also the teacher of Imam Shawkani rahimahullah.

In the same book in a different page, Ibn Taymiyyah says:

"And with that, those who say the Fire will be unending, they don't have with them the Qur'an, the Sunnah, or anything from the Sahaba"

The muhaqiq in the footnotes says he never found this hadith Ibn Taymiyyah relates

Albani believes that Ibn Taymiyyah and ibn Qayyim tried to strengthen the chains of the narrations they cite as evidence by entrusting their outward, in opposition to the mustalah of hadith.

Imam Al Munawi in his Faydh al Qadeer:

"Some of them held that the fire will end to the exclusion of Jannah, Ibn al-Qayyim did so, as did his Shaykh, and he wrote alot in his defence. And they went near to kufr as they believed in that which is in opposition to the Qur'an"

Ibn Qayyim al Jawziyya in his Haadee al Arwah:

"As for Fana of Hell and it's limit, we found that some sahaba said it. As for those who say 'these are the words innovators', they have no report thereof.
