Do you know Robert E. Svoboda?

He was the very first westerner to graduate from the college of Ayurveda. As a result, he was licensed to practice Ayurveda in India.

After coming to India, he came in contact with an Aghori named Vimlananda.
Baba Vimlananda taught him many Vidyas like Yoga, Jyotish, Tantra etc.
Apart from that, he taught him advanced Ayurveda as well.

Robert spent at least 12 years in India and most of his time was spent with his mentor Vimlananda.
He perfected lots of concepts under Vimlananda. He also listened to many of his stories.

His adventures, his origin, how he spent his life etc.

Robert wrote a lot of books to share the work and tales of Baba Vimlananda with the world.
This thread is dedicated to one such tale. It'll serve two purposes:

- It'll tell you about the law of karma in action. The karma that we gain throughout our life and how it proceeds to the next life as well.

- It'll tell you about how Aghori Vimlananda became what he was.
Here it goes.

Baba Vimlananda talks about how a turn of events led him to a jain ascetic known as Jain Chandra Suri.

He went to him just by chance or fate, when he was roaming with his classmates.

It wasn't intentional by any means.
That old man peered at young Vimlananda and after a close inspection requested him to bring his horoscope.

Vimlananda did, and after a thorough analysing, he asked him about his willingness to learn astrology, palmistry, and physiognomy.

Young Vimlananda agreed.
Vimlananda studied under that jain ascetic for three years.

That jain ascetic was very proficient in the construction of Yantras and various rituals. He taught him good.

One day, that ascetic, asked vimlananda to accompany him outside bombay.
He took Vimlananda to a village and on the new moon light asked him to perform a ritual, known as Shava Sadhna(शव साधना).

He explained that a fresh corpse had been obtained. All he had to do was to sit on the corpse(घाड़) and perform a ritual.
Actually that Jain Ascetic looked into the horoscope of young Vimlananda and realized that he could succeed at that sort of sadhna.

It was being planned from the last three years.

Vimlananda refused and Jain Chanda Suri tried convincing him.
But he wasn't convinced by any means. At the last resort, he told him that, "if you refused to do the ritual, I'll perform the ritual myself on your corpse".

Vimlananda got scared and agreed to do it.

Before the ritual, he was made to drink a full bottle of liquor.
Reason? He was afraid of corpses and that liquor made him relaxed.

He went to the corpse, which was of a woman. She was from a tribe of people who lived inside forests.

She had only been dead for a few hours.
Let's skip to the part when he started the ritual.

That jain ascetic gave him a japmala and a yantra. He had to chant mantras and after the completion of that ritual, a godess called Smashan Tara was to appear in the form of an animal.
He was also given a dish of raw meat and wine which was to be offered to that godess(in the form of an animal).

After instructed him, the ascetic went outside the ritual area.

Young Vimlananda was all alone and he started doing chants with full speed. He wasn't afraid anymore.
When Shav Sadhna reached it's half stage, the Shava tried getting up. Now, vimlananda was instructed to knock the corpse down and so he did.

After the completion of that ritual, he heard the growling of a jackal. That jackal was snarling and baring its teeth.
Vimlananda was still under the effects of Alcohol and as a result, jumped out of the protection circle.

He stuck his hand inside that jackal's mouth and the jackal licked drops of blood from his fingers.

Those blood drops acted as a sacrifice.
Smashan Tara reverted into her original form. She was standing before him, smiling and asking what he wanted from her.

Now, I forgot to tell you one thing.

That jain ascetic told Vimlananda that as soon as smashan tara appears and asks for a wish.
Young Vimlananda was to direct her towards the ascetic with a request to compete his wish instead.

Young Vimlananda started crying after seeing Tara Maa and told her that he just wanted to return back to bombay.

Tara Maa assured him and said, "Don't worry".
"I'll see to it that you reach bombay safely but ask for something first."

Young Vimlananda asked her again to send him to bombay instead and he'll think of a wish there.

Tara Maa laughed and asked him to close his eyes and so he did.
When he reopened his eyes, he was in his bedroom.

Note: Part I finished here. Based on your response, I'll continue the remaining tale in the next part, for sure.
