The name Thule comes from (Greek: Θούλη), a place name dating to the third-century BC for a land believed by the Greeks to lie to the north of Britain. But the name also of (not so secret) society called Thule Society from the pre- Nazi era.
The Thule Society was a German occultist and völkisch group founded in Munich right after World War I, named after a mythical northern country in Greek legend. The followers of the Thule Society were very interested in racial theory

The airbase has 5 units, including Det. 1, 23rd Space Operations Squadron
and also 12th Space Warning Squadron 12 SWS has 3 missions: Missile warning, missile defense, and space surveillance. A secondary mission of providing space surveillance data on earth-orbiting objects to the Joint Space Operations Centre at Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA (!!!)
Because of its northern location, Thule experiences constant darkness (Nov-Feb) & constant sunlight May-Aug (HOT). Avg winter tempt range 13 to 20 degrees below zero, Summer tempt range 30 to 44 degrees.
