Jennie Kim’s Journey~ A Thread In celebration of #NineYearsWithJennie her hard work, dedication, determination, perseverance. A brief summary of her predubut stories/pics/ to see how far she has come and how she became the Jennie Kim of today.
Jennie left Sourh Korea at a very young age to study in New Zeeland, alone, not knowing what awaits her and how she would fit in. She spent a few years there, able to make the best memories with her friends in a new place, environment and culture.
In 2010 she appeared on MBC’s documentary "English, Must Change to Survive", where she spoke about her experiences in learning a new language. From which we got the famous immitation of her onion cutting and also the story about her broken arm-
trying to save her 2$ orange juice. She was carrying her drink in one hand and was running hard and tripped, but she didn't want the juice to spill so she fell on her other hand and it broke. Yeah that was the girl back in New Zeeland who yall tried to spread rumours about.
Though her mom had big plans for her and her future was basically set:go study in Florida become a lawyer or a teacher,J deep down knew that she wanted something else. She couldnt help but speak up about how eager she was to follow her own path, not the one her mom chose for her.
She wanted to sing and dance, become an idol. So she persuaded her mom and went back to SK in 2010 to follow an unknown path that would take away from her youth and make her the Jennie Kim of today. She had the guts to abandon a clear and a set future just to follow her passion.
She told us: “When I was in New Zealand, I lived by myself. I was 9 when I went there. When I was 14, my mom wanted to move me to the states, Florida, for school. I wanted to do music. I told my mom, why don't I come home and do something I would love for the rest of my life"
So in 2010 moving back to Sk, she auditioned for yge and was accepted at the age of 14. Devoting her youth to training for 6 years. People started to know more about her when she featured in various songs of yge artists such as Lee hi’s Special.
She started to get more recognition as a trainee when she made an appearance in gd (one of her very first and best supporters) song “That XX” and when she featured in his song “BLACK” showing off her visuals, singing and acting in both songs.
Jennie spent her best years having one of the most intense trainings (as known about yge). People often think that she was privileged, and didn’t have to do much,to be at her current position. But let me correct that for you. As a trainee she had to go through weekly and monthly -
evaluations. Together with other trainess they had to go through a set of tests to determine whether they still deserved their place at the company or not. She said: “YG is more strict than school. Somebody would come in with- https://twitter.com/QueenlisaXoXo/status/1134882533370486784/video/1
Somebody would come in with a piece of paper and stick it on a wall and it would say who did best, who did worst, who is going home" 12 hours a day,7 days a week, Jennie survived for 6 years. She didn’t have it easy, it was a cold hearted world crushing the dreams of many trainees.
She went through a lot of setbacks.Saw her friends being cut from the lineup& getting tired and leaving, she saw how her debut kept getting pushed back but she never gave up. She could’ve chosen the easier way, but she persevered and was determined to make it against all odds.
She said: “When I look back at my trainee days, I always think ‘How did I really do it?’. If you told me to do it again, I think I would’ve replied,‘I don’t think I can do it.’But I have never regretted the times I spent on debuting. Sometimes, I feel personally proud of myself.”
She continued: “When I was alone in the practice room, I used to practice with songs of artists I liked. Playing loudly while Imagining my future self. I won’t forget those early hours in the morning-
when my mood was really bad, I'd console myself with Amy Winehouse's music & when I wanted to be excited I'd entrust myself to Rihanna. Looking back, it was a meaningful time. After classes and while preparing for evaluations, dawn was a time I spent for myself.”
Throughout these years, she was often spotted going and leaving yge buidling, dedicating all of her time to her nr 1 goal. She pushed through together with her other trainee friends and we finally got to hear good news in 2016.
J was the first to be confirmed as the official member of Blackpink on June 1,2016.Right from the teaser photos, she has been outstanding. She finally made her dream come true and debuted in a group that was to become one of the best girl groups both in Korea and on a global scale
We all thought how Jennie had this though persona but she was actually the first one to break down when they won their first music show. She had endured so much and despite everything was still able to stand on stage and do what she loves the most. It meant a lot to her.
After releasing a few songs Bp’s popularity skyrocketed and so did Jennie’s especially after releasing her Solo on november 12, making her one of the most successful female soloists, able to break a set of records and make a name for her own and being recognized as -
a triple threat who is able to sing, dance and most importantly rap. Though her position is a main rapper, she can easily adapt to any other role and excel at it. That besides her fashion influence and her title as Chanel ambassador& It girl, trendsetter who sells out every item.
Though her journey after debuting hasn’t been that easy as well, having her up and downs and dealing with a lot of antis, jealous obsessed stans and baseless rumors. That also didn’t stop her, she continued and showed us that we can trust her and believe in her, always.
This was a brief summary of Jennie’s journey and how she became the Jennie Kim of today.I hope we all can still support her for a very long time and that we all can be there for her till the end of the road. Also Thank you to every single fan out there who loves and defends her❤️
