It’s about high-time there’s a thread devoted to The Godmother of Soul’s wigs.

Let’s briefly explain some of Patti Labelle’s signature hair moments.
Let’s start things off with first recognizing that natural hair flourishing because Patti would want you to know that her scalp is well-conditioned. Don’t ever try her or her strands.
Always a homage giver, we’ll call this unit the ‘Nip Arista 25’ bumped up bomb. Easy wear for a day luncheon in the city ordering overpriced water.

Patti keeping the bangs over the forehead tells the people that you’ll never get to her head.
The Dreamgirl “TURN THE WIG AROUND!” & then upside down unit. Perfect for a leisurely stroll at any BINGO hall.
Patti in this classic ‘somebody loves you baby, but it sure as hell ain’t me’ unit. This is definitely a “I keep read receipts on” wig.
Simply called “WIG” unit.
It’s a beautiful wig for a breezy Autumn day. No comb needed for this hair, falls naturally. Versatile for the stage or for at home. Little to no maintenance required.

Patti demonstrates that the wig accentuates a dress & also a sport coat. Jazzy.
This majestic unit, brought to life by a pack of razors.

A working corporate woman wig, full of charisma. In your office, smooth jazz plays softly while you’re emailing clients. This is the unit you wear to the credit union at 4:57pm because they WILL let you in. Big money.
This is the “If Only Keke Wyatt Would Stop Singing My Song” unit. A sturdy lace-front with plenty of shade attached. This wig only comes out when it’s time to politely read everyone ...with some hair buoyancy.
Before Princess Kitana used fans to fight opponents, Patti used fans to fight off lesser vocalists.

We’ll just call this unit the ‘Apollo Kombat’ wig. A FINISH HIM! in 1B.
A “You Bring Me No One In The World Rapture” wig aka Patti Baker.

Easily worn while singing “Sweet Love” & also watching “Living Single” re-runs. A ***flawless versatile unit.
This unit represents “New Attitude” in full. What other wig has a cup holder attached? Genius level craftsmanship.

This is the wig of a confident, practical & stylish woman. No purse? No problem! The bun is also a wallet & key holder. The “French Roll Tire” wig.
Patti J. Blige, A “Not Gon’ Eat Your Pie” wig.

Hands down, this is the unit of one WHO KNOWS that their baking skills are far superior to any other.

Watches OWN TV while baking, preferably Super Soul Sunday.
Patti’s wearing the The Auntie wig of bliss. This is the unit that sends a peaceful shiver. You know that this wig will automatically come with hugs, sticks of gum & Macy’s giftcards.
This unit, “Warm Woman Summer” is for the more seasoned & experienced.

Patti knew when wearing this wig, that all eyes would be solely on her at the Watersise Jazz Fest. This wig orders a glass of Moscato with a shot of Vodka because...GROWN.

I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T.
A classic among classics. This is the Master Splinter of wigs. Whenever Patti wore this, is was strictly about showmanship and architecture. You can easily chop salads, hang clothes to dry & open canned foods with this unit.

This is prime Patti wig, truly.
Ursula is shaking.
This “Bitch, What Was Said?” unit is a blessing. Patti’s wearing this psychic wig that automatically shifts upwards when around questionable behavior. A duality of hair: looks + a lie detector.
The “sensible” unit for the laid-back woman. Now this isn’t a full cap wig but it still serves the purpose of showing the world that you pay your bills on time with written checks in the mail. This wig is the “Amen” of wigs, worn on Wednesday at Bible study.
The “Molly, you in danger girl.” unit.

Enough said. Thank you Patti for the heads up.
This is the best wig in the bunch. It signifies the legendary Patti in her purest element of freedom + love. We will always appreciate that heart, voice and soul.

And them wigs are of excellence, because Mama came to make statements. Cheers, Patti! Keep showing us how to live!
