bts as lawyers/legal professionals [thread]:
Disclaimer: All roles assigned on the basis that members work and live in common law jurisdictions (they don’t). Thread does not reflect reality. Reader’s discretion is advised.
1. Kim Namjoon: State Attorney. Responsible for putting more than half the state’s murderers and sex offenders in jail. A strong sense of justice with a heart of gold. Feared by criminals and defense counsel alike.
2. Kim Seokjin: Criminal defense attorney. The best cross-examiner in the country. A true professional who despises his white-collared criminals clients, but works hard to defend them anyway. A passionate advocate for the abolition of capital punishment.
3. Min Yoongi: The judge who takes no shit and tolerates no attempts at obfuscation. Will not hesitate to flame counsel for misleading him. A hero amongst law students for his succinct judgments and witty quotes.
(See: Tswift copyright case).
4. Jung Hoseok: Family lawyer with an extensive portfolio of high profile divorce cases. Was informed yesterday that an ex-client set fire to the $10 million painting they won (out of spite). A bright-eyed optimist who does not let the ugliness he sees shake his faith in love.
5. Park Jimin: Immigration lawyer with a big heart. An ardent critic of the system, who made it his life’s mission to save children from deportation. Defends undocumented immigrants and their rights to due process. He volunteers with the ACLU in his down time.
6. Kim Taehyung: Law academic. One of the youngest legal minds with an extensive body of published work. Highly respected as the leading authority in his field of expertise. Beloved by students as the young, quirky professor who holds regular art shows on campus.
7. Jung Jungkook: All-rounder who graduated summa cum laude, top of his class. Shocked everyone when he turned down prestigious offers from the biggest firms to run his own tech startup. A game-changer who’s said to be revolutionising the way the legal profession uses technology.
Bonus: They were all friends in high school.
Bonus +1: Prosecutor Namjoon and defence counsel Seokjin cross swords in court, but the two friends go out for drinks when the case is over 💆🏻‍♀️
Bonus +2: the gang gang still meets for drinks two times a year, no matter how busy they get
*State attorney = prosecutor. They charge and prove a criminal’s guilt. The defence counsel represents the accused and is their “opponent” in court.
some call them the Avengers of the legal industry 😜
[One time, Namjoon had to file a restraining order against his own chief witness after the trial was concluded. Rumour has it, she stalked him for weeks and was overheard muttering “his dimples...... th-they’re illegal”]
[White-collar criminals lie to him 9 times out of 10, and Seokjin is tired of dealing with greed and dishonesty. They pay well, but what Seokjin really loves is taking pro bono cases (without charge). He believes that everyone, rich or poor, should have access to legal counsel. +
+ Seokjin fights to take any capital punishment cases that come his way. He’s good, he knows he’s good. He knows he can save people.

Seokjin fights hard, and almost always wins. The fact that he saved lives with just his words and wit humbles him. He feels on top of the world. +
+But those are good days. Some days, Seokjin doesn’t win. He’s never able to look his client in the eyes when they don’t win.

“I’m sorry”, he says. “I tried my best”

He goes home, cries into a bottle & avoids comments online. “How can someone defend a killer? Lawyers are scum.”
+ Everyone is happy he lost. He sometimes resents the public & prosecutors (like Namjoon); though he knows his friend does not proceed on such charges carelessly.

Seokjin believes there is no place for the death penalty in the civilised age. He wants Congress to change the law.]
*Thanks for all the love 😳 No AU is in the works though, I’m sorry!

For anyone who’s interested, I’ll add small snippets & rambles that come to mind under this thread. 😊
