How do I explain that whole "bi/pan people can't say butch/femme" was made up by TERFs and the dumbass animal terms some Tumblr idiots made up as "alternatives" make young bi/pan people feel gross calling themselves animals and it's not lesbophobic to call yourself butch/femme
Also that "lesbian" used to just be a catch all term for any sapphic attraction and bi/pan/queer came later, and that plenty of bi/pan people helped create butch/femme culture and aesthetics and you're insulting our shared history
The creation of bisexual/pansexual/queer was actually a wonderful thing for lesbians too bc it validates both as individual and valid identities, and also lesbophobia is a real and bad thing and is not when bi/pan people say butch/femme you dumbass

It’s funny bc a large majority of bi+ people, even the ones who haven’t felt excluded or derided from these terms, don’t feel they want to use them anyway. Many of these people also either aren’t attracted to or don’t prefer to date cis men either,
But every exclusionist in my mentions brings up men (and no, they don’t differentiate to cis men). It’s like suddenly everything is about men and whether you’re attracted to them or date them when literally other genders exist
This thread began as a bit of a subtweet to defend a non-binary femme bisexual person. They don’t ever want to date cis men or feel attracted to them, and I never mentioned them in this thread, but somehow that’s what every exclusionist came into my mentions to yell about. Hm!!!
funny that every exclusionist kept bringing up men for some reason because uh, newsflash, queer men of color in the ball scene use these terms (under VERY different histories and contexts) as well so saying nonlesbians can't use them is also BIG racist
