WHY ‘THE 100’ IS AMAZING;
a thread
the character development is insane. so many of the most annoying/hated characters got arcs that realistically showed how people change and are now fan favorites
diversity and inclusion without making a big point that they have poc and lgbt. the characters are just that, characters. not add-ins to make it look like they are diverse.
the main character faces difficult decisions that have lasting impact and show how being the protagonist doesn’t mean you are absolutely good all the time. guilt and ethics play a big role.
major themes of good/bad and war/peace. both sides just do what they can to survive and it creates interesting conflict when you don’t exactly know who you should trust
characters don’t just adhere to a boring stereotype. characters don’t have to be super good at fighting to be a strong character. smarts and kindness go a long way.
really good show for people who are into science/technology/space/politics
it’s not always the same characters who are good/bad. each character has highs and lows to their morals
they don’t use the same conflict/antagonist or the same structure for multiple seasons.
wholesome friendships!!
classic love-to-hate characters
as well as hate-to-love characters...
male characters who can be emotionally vulnerable and not just the ‘tall, dark, handsome’ trope.
female role models who occupy all different roles in the show, warrior, leader, doctor, religious leaders, soldiers, engineers, etc.
a WHOLE LANGUAGE constructed for the grounders by the people who developed the game of thrones languages
(it’s called trigedasleng)
shows the power of children and teens. the first season especially is only young people and it really shows that they can be mature and wise about things, not just be naive about the world around them. especially madi!
a variety of different kind of couples/romances. some short lived, some super meaningful.
it’s just a GREAT SHOW. 10/10 recommend.
