Are you a long time Ace Attorney fan? Did you just get into the series with the HD trilogy and want to get more from the series? Did you find this account and want to know more about the series? Well you are in luck, because this thread is for you!
This spoiler-free thread is going to be going in-depth on the Ace Attorney games, where to play them, and other fan content/similar games you might be interested in whilst waiting for the next big AA game to release. Without further ado, let's get into this!
The first game in the series is Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. This game sets the foundation for the series and introduces many of its iconic characters. It was first released on the GBA in 2001 before being translated into English on the DS.
This game (and the rest of the series) are murder mystery games. The player takes control of rookie lawyer Pheonix Wright as he navigates through investigations, gathering evidence to present in a court battle.
The game challenges the player to unravel each case step by step, until you come to the solution, find the culprit and prove your client innocent! There are many twists and turns along the way, and it's so much fun.
The series is known for its loveable cast of characters, such as Maya Fey, Phoenix's charming and bubbly assistant, and Miles Edgeworth, the courthouse prosecutor who will do anything for a guilty verdict.
Phoenix's story is continued in Justice for All, with more cases and characters and gameplay mechanics, before Trials and Tribulations concludes the story with a grand and fantastic finale!
The easiest way to play these now is with the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy, available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, Steam and 3DS. These have hand-drawn character art and are the perfect place to start.
If you've already aquainted yourself with the series, the next place to go is Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. This game follows a new protagonist and story, whilst keeping the same classic gameplay.
In this game, the main character Apollo has the ability to perceive witnesses tells and tell when they are lying. It also adds unique and fleshed out forensic investigation mechanics!
This is my (the mod of this account) favourite Ace Attorney game, due to the unique tone and loveable cast. If you want to play it, it's available on DS, 3DS, iOS and Android.
The next game released was actually a spinoff, following Miles Edgeworth, Phoenix's long-standing rival. This game, Ace Attorney Investigations, shakes up the series formula, but still has the wit and writing which the series is known for.
Edgeworth is able to investigate the crime scene and freely explore, and use logic to come to his own conclusion on the crime. In addition, as you are playing as a prosecutor, this leads to new types of cases and stories!
The original version of this game is on DS, although an updated version was released on iOS and Android. Hopefully this version goes the way of the trilogy and comes to consoles (and maybe Capcom could be nice and bring the sequel along too?)
Due to this games status, I'm not going to go too in-depth into it, but just know its one of the best games in the series. Please don't overlook it, especially after all the hard work the fan-translators put into making it playable.
Back to the main series now with Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies. This game puts Phoenix back as the main character (although Apollo still sticks around) and features new lawyer to the series Athena Cykes!
This game is almost a reboot of the main series, bringing the games to a new generation of fans. It's fun, upbeat and is a great time all around! It's available on 3DS, iOS and Android.
The follow-up to this game is Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice! This is the most recent localised entry in the series, yet it has quickly become one of the most beloved.
This game involves Phoenix travelling to the new country of Khur'ain, to reuinite with Maya. However, due to the nature of this foreign country, it causes a new chapter in Phoenix's life to end up as chaotic as usual.
Just as with Dual Destinies, this game is available on 3DS, iOS and Android. It's the most recent game in the main series, but there are a few more Ace Attorney spin-offs that fans should know about.
DGS 1 and 2 were only released in Japan, but are some of the coolest games in the series! They take place in the distant past and feature new protag Ryūnosuke and Sherlock Holmes as the detective!
There is a fan-translation out there, and I've heard it's great! It works on the 3DS version and Android (although you will need to homebrew your 3DS to play it).
Next up is Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney! This cross-over features the two mystery solvers team up to solve the mystery of a fantasy world and witch trials! It's absolutely crazy and a great time for fans of both games.
Going to go into the Ace Attorney-like games and other Ace Attorney content (like the anime) next, then the fan content! Stay tuned!
Speaking of Layton, I'd highly recommend these games to fans who want something new. These DS and 3DS puzzlers have great mystery stories just like Ace Attorney, and are filled to the brim with charm. And the movie is so good!
Another great AA related game is Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective. It's directed by Shu Takumi, who made the trilogy and Apollo Justice, and is an awesome hidden gem (one of my favourite games ever). To keep this brief, here's a great thread all about it: https://twitter.com/finnmertens/status/1156219902866284545?s=19
Ace Attorney also has a two season anime! It covers the story of the first three games and has a few original plots in there as well. It's a little rough around the edges, but if you want to re-experience the games in a new form, check it out!
You may have known about the anime, but did you know about the live-action movie? It's subtitles only as far as I know, but it's directed by esteemed Japanese filmmaker Takashi Miike! Such a neat little part of AA history.
Some of the most acclaimed features of the games are the soundtracks. Each game features a bopping set of tunes in a multitude of styles, with some especially famous ones:
In addition, there are some official jazz, orchestrated and arranged versions of the OSTs out there, and there are even live concerts in Japan. Track them down online and give them a listen; you won't be disappointed.
There are a couple of official Ace Attorney musicals too, although they are only in Japanese and way harder to find. Despite the series having many male characters, these are done by an incredibly talented all female musical theatre troupe!
If you're a long time fan, you might be wondering why the series seems to be in a drought as of late. The last localised game, Spirit of Justice, was 3 years ago, and whilst the HD trilogy is nice, what about new content?
Well, this is where the fans come in. Ace Attorney has an incredibly dedicated fan community, and if you look hard enough, you'll find loads of Ace Attorney love out there. These are just a few of my (and your) favourites!
For keeping up to date with anything Ace Attorney, look no further than @CourtRecords_. It's the ultimate hub for finding fan content, sprites, news, and everything in-between!
If you love the games music, then you will LOVE Turnabout Musical. It's a full recreation of the first games plot, sung entirely by excellent performers. Here's a full live performance of it:
If you'd rather just stick to the songs, they are a little harder to find these days, but thankfully I've got you covered, and you can download them here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7y3qn1rkx3d1asm/TurnaboutMusicalOriginalSoundtrack.zip?dl=0
Speaking of, here's a adaption of Turnabout Musical by @FiddyShadeJ! They did it for their college thesis, which might be the coolest college thesis out there: https://twitter.com/FiddyShadeJ/status/1157048248311459842?s=19
A personal favourite of mine is the Object to This podcast. They've been going strong for over seven years, and hosts Stephanie and Michelle go super in-depth on all things Ace Attorney.
They also often come up with their own ideas for cases, and ask listeners questions all of the time. If you need a new podcast to listen to, check them out on Apple Podcasts ( https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/object-to-this/id850431567 ) and Podbean ( https://objecttothis.podbean.com/  ).
Going back to the topic of Ace Attorney music, there are many excellent fan remixes on YouTube of Ace Attorney tunes. Anyone can enjoy these songs, and here is a collection of a few (and the performers themselves) that I adore.

With the expressive-ness of AA's sprite work, some amazing fan videos have been released using them to back scenes, music, and everything in-between. I'm calling this the Ace Attorney sprite videos (due to a lack of a better word to call them).
Here are some absolute gems:
Smooth Criminal by MaximumVolty:
Kristoph Rage Breaks by @SwordDino (AA4 SPOILERS):
Courtroom Funk by Let's Dub Project:
Objection Rhapsody by Avendasora:
We need to give special attention to Boot to the Head, this absolute classic has been out since 2007 and is one of the earliest pieces of western fan content I could find; and it never fails to make me laugh:
Awkward Zombie's comics need absolutely no introduction. Eat your hamburgers, Apollo.

Whilst there are loads of AA fanfiction out there, some go the extra mile and make it into a fan case/fangame. This is Turnabout Substitution, a fangame which acts as 5th case to Apollo Justice! http://turnaboutsub.weebly.com/
If you're a Reddit user, the r/AceAttorney community a great place to discuss the games (probably better than the replies on my posts, to be honest).

And here are some miscellaneous bonus videos that was submitted to me. I wasn't sure where to put them, but I still love them!

and anyone else I may have missed! If I included something you suggested but didn't credit you, I'll make sure to add you again.
I obviously missed a lot (I could literally be here for years talking about this stuff) but hopefully this gives you a good impression of Ace Attorney and it's fanbase. I had loads of fun putting together this thread!
If you have any more suggestions, I will add to this thread eventually, so keep leaving them (all though I might miss them, I'm just one guy and this account gets 100s of notifications daily). I appreciate all of you so much even if I can't get around to everything!
Heavy Ace Attorney Investigations spoilers, but I'm kicking myself for forgetting this great video, thanks to @FiveOhNinetyTwo for reminding me!

Again with the Investigations spoilers, but I need to mention this amazing dub of a Hiimdaisy comic:
I only dipped into the world of fancases here, but if you want to delve deeper, I've heard positive things about A Turnabout to El Dorado! A full length case with several hours of Ace Attorney goodness in it.

https://www.forums.court-records.net/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=32575
As well, The Enchanted Turnabout and Curiosity of a Turnabout have both been recommended to me! Enchanted seems to be a PLvsAA psuedo-sequel, whilst Curiosity looks like something entirely new.

Enchanted: http://aaonline.fr/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=12554
Curiosity: http://www.aaonline.fr/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=12015
Both of those were made in Ace Attorney Online, an online tool so that anyone can make their own AA cases! I used to toy around with this all the time, it's like an free Ace Attorney Mario Maker (although a little more complex)!

http://www.aaonline.fr/
Not to be confused with Ace Attorney Online, Attorney Online is an online chatroom where players can create and act out cases live with other players! I've yet to try this, but it seems super cool, and @supersonic2984 requested I add it to the thread.

https://twitter.com/supersonic2984/status/1157085710467440640?s=19
Adrisaurus has some amazing Ace Attorney vocal covers (that I definitely should have included from the start) but @djguthrie5 suggested this quality addition!
Whilst I'm amending this, I'm going to add the Adrisaurus vocal cover for Apollo's theme in here. She has loads of other too, I just highlighted Apollo's because I'm heavily biased towards his character!
For something more extreme, my good friend @memeBIGdotnet suggested I add some of his favourite metal covers to this! Whilst metal may not be my thing, I can't ignore the talent behind GaMetal's covers!

One big emmision I made from the original version of this thread were the official light novels and manga. I didn't really know much about these, but @Demezer and @endragh filled me in on their existence!
For brevity, here are a couple of helpful links if you want to read these:

Ace Attorney has a few Japanese only drama CDs, which are hard to come by.
@JGoodUlysses also recommended this channel, which is translating these drama CDs with subtitles! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCob_iTQZBB7I76w-tGM_SPw
