PART TWO: SHIT JOBS

My friends, I would like to think about how free you are.

How much wiggle room do you have in this world?

Because tonight I would like to showcase the lack of liberty of a full-time worker in this economic system.
There are 24 hours a day on this Earth.

If you're getting enough sleep (which most of the population aren't which does play into the larger pressures that this system places on people), you should be getting 8 hours of sleep a night.
That means that you'll be unconscious for 1/3 of your entire life, so that leaves you 16 hours a day to perceive this world of ours.

Now, let's say you work 40 hours a week - five days a week, eight hours a day.
Already, we are losing half of all of our waking hours to our jobs, and in that time you are being told what to do, what to wear, how to speak, how to look, how to act, when you can go to the toilet, when you can go for food, when you come in and when you go home.
You will have thousands of details of half of all of your waking hours dictated to you by someone else so you can get money.

On top of this, with what you're producing in work, for most of us are not bearing the fruits of our labour; our bosses are.
You don't get a say in how this company is ran. You're fucking told what to do; and you'll do it, or lose your job. You have no autonomy. You're a marionette.

You don't get to infuse the products of your labour with your own spirit; your individual humanity.
You mass produce a product according to a uniform set of rules on an assembly line. You enter in lines of data the same way over and over.

You don't see yourself reflected back at you. You're stripped of any feeling like you're doing something meaningful.
Is there any wonder then why a Gallup poll found that 85% of people worldwide hate their jobs? (Link in comments)
And you'll do this shit for half of all your waking hours. Most of the time, you'll be spending way too much time in work as automation means we already produce far more in much less time and could all lead very comfy lives with a fraction of the time we work now.
This isn't even looking at travelling back and from work, which for some can be an hour or more each way. Make that ten hours a day you devote to your job.

And by the time you get home? You're probably tired. You have six hours left of your waking hours to enjoy.
Most of us just slump in front of our TVs or play video games because we just want to switch off at the end of a day of being ground down slowly between the capitalistic millstones of spending half of our waking hours working...
...so some rich dickhead somewhere can spend his days lounging on his superyacht in Monaco.

Do we want to keep up with how Congress or Parliament is trying to fuck us again today after work? No. Not really. Just want to relax. It's been a hard day.
Why do you think so many people apathetically "don't get politics", as I'm repeatedly told?

Half of all their waking hours they have control and autonomy stripped from them at work. Why would they be used to readily deploy said autonomy when it comes to political activism?
And what are we told when we dare complain justifiably about the shit nature of the work we do?

Some variation of "suck it up".

Well, my friends,

Fuck that.
Life is far too short to be spending half of it in a miserable fucking job so some rich bastard can be cheerful snorting coke in a penthouse somewhere.
You're right to hate your job. Humans are not meant to sit squarely in an office cubicle or on an assembly line for HALF OF OUR WAKING HOURS to make another bloke somewhere nice and cushty.
Stay tuned, Part Three is coming.

And yes, we will be presenting solutions - but we need to properly examine all our problems in this world first before we do that.
