Like, the majority of people share this sort of thing with good intentions, like, “better safe than sorry!” but honestly this sort of scaremongering is completely irresponsible and I’m real tired of it.
I still remember a while back when those cutlery solicitations you got in the mail were purported to be sex trafficking adverts and a lot of my friends FREAKED OUT because they had got one in the mail.
Like, who does this help? Who benefits from falsely believing they’re in danger of sex trafficking? It causes unneeded stress and fear and creates an inaccurate and distracting image of what trafficking actually looks like. It’s awful.
If you see a link like that make the rounds, you owe it to yourself and others to do a quick google and see if it’s legit. Snopes is a great resource, as always. Stop the spread of misinformation on social media.
