ZX Spectrum 128k “Toast Rack” rescue! *thread*

As some of you might remember, last week my beloved Spectrum +3 died. The latest Spectrum obviously came with the oldest Z80s they could find (Mostek). Thanks Amstrad!

I took an NEC Z80 from a toast rack as replacement! +3 works.
But OF COURSE the Spectrum 128k needs to come back to life! I know I could have bought a newer CPU from Zilog but I chose to buy the same antique NEC Z80 chip new old stock. This morning I put it in the toast rack!
And voila... back from the dead! The new old stock Z80s from NEC (I bought a few) do work. The toast rack is showing the 48k prompt because of the @futurewas8bit divMMC Future connected to it!
Let’s try some stuff to see how if everything works. I’m also enjoying the Speccy connected to the big screen in the living room A LOT. Here is the divMMC Future .tap file selector menu
It’s always good to load your own game first 😂 here is my adventure Hibernated 1 running on the repaired Toast Rack. Oh Hibernated won the Crash Smash in the 100th issue of the Crash last year. In case you haven’t played it yet... DO IT
Now we try some 128k stuff. You may get the divMMC Future into 128k Mode by typing .128k at the command prompt. Voila, there you go
Here is „Unhallowed“ by @Blerkotron. Looks nice on the big screen. If you haven’t played it yet - it’s a refreshing, modern take on the classic adventure genre. Love it!
I also gave „All Hallows“ a go. This is the enhanced version, soon available for you to buy from @BitmapSoft.
Shoutout for the additional equipment used in this thread: divMMC Future and ZX Spectrum replacement PSU: both from @futurewas8bit. The high quality Scart cable is from @RetroCompShack. You won’t get better quality products on the market than these!
And here it is: the Spectrum 128k aka „Toast Rack“, back to life with a new old stock Z80 CPU back from the day!

In terms of beauty and design I think this is the Spectrum to have!

As a developer I’m mainly using my +3 though as it maximizes my flexibility and eases tests.
