here, again, we see

cultivation of consumer identity -
fetishization of competition between demographics -
The Outrage -
both of these images of "breadtube" are pretend
while I certainly think there is plenty to criticize in the popular ranks of leftist YouTube, it is not gay centrism(?) now

and before, it was never regularly strong or interesting

and also often presented fetishization rather than any kind of critical engagement of theory
to simply explain theory is good for people who want theory, hence the belief that "breadtube used to be better"

but what is really being said by this image is "I do not want an expansive left where people relate theory to current things or even criticize it
it is dictating what they wish to consume:

saying things that have already been said and arguing about which dead guy is best
on the flipside, my criticism for current "breadtube" is how much focus has been put on a couple of personalities, and how its turned largely into arguing about which alive YouTuber is best
little has been done to discourage this by personalities who end up benefiting greatly as the attention centralizes on them

little has been done to spread that around
this is not a problem of gay centrism or whatever the image thinks it is

it is a problem of not cooperating and organizing, but rather fetishizing consumption

this is the problem at the root of all our problems as the people advocating for cooperation and organization
it is the same problem for the "old/good breadtube"

it is a problem there will be no evidence anyone has solved until you look around and see a movement
leftists on YouTube can basically mainly only make propaganda. I would hope it is rooted in some actual critique, and that doesn't mean one made by a person everyone knows

it may be something the person themselves have seen and worked out
people who think of that as an endgame, who fetishize an image of what that is supposed to be, are not considering what the whole thing even is
if you're not trying to seed information that will break cycles, it doesn't matter for a second whether your aesthetic is Marxist or... Again, gay-ish? (really not a good dichotomy to make a real point)
which means bringing more than theory, it's putting established theory in a way people who don't already want it will and actually making new observations.

some people absolutely do that
basically, I'm pretty sick of this kind of horseshit

"I'm so mad I can't consume more of a hyper-specific thing"

I'm not even mad at the people who do this shit, I'm mad that capitalism has figured out how to control people familiar with Marx
please refrain from the essentialist takes in response; yes, I'm pretty aware it's them being bigoted

I really want to hammer home that this is a symptom and that a system that produces millions of bigots is the problem
if I'm honest, I'm completely exhausted by that kind of take at this point
the amount of shit I have gotten for coming out as non-binary, I can tell you I am aware some people would be a lot happier if I, and everyone "weirder" than me was dead
it is more than about these people and their choices, though, and I'm completely fucking tired of "but the bigots"

the bigots come from somewhere

here, the bigots are incentivized through consuming a fetishization of leftism

that's the conversation I want to have
frankly focusing on how bad bigotry is did not defeat it, in fact it's the president now
