Islamic astrology shares a lot of commonalities and influence with European medieval astrology. For example how they interpret the different signs of the zodiac, or dairat al buruj

A thread on the signs in Islamic astrology:

Both medieval and Islamic astrology share an emphasis on planets. The signs themselves are not particularly important in the natal chart, it is the planets that rule. So the information on signs is limited and the focus is placed on the way planets interact in houses and signs.
For example Ibn Ezra writes, Venus in 7th or 12th house means the person is likely having lots of sex.

The Sun and First House can provide temperament, but the chart is not about personality. It is predictive and diagnostic. In this way it differs from modern astrology.
The brief sketch of the Zodiac here is focused on temperament and would be only a small portion of a natal chart.

With the main focus on how the planets interact in the zodiac in the specific houses providing specifics and predictions for a person's life.
