every time @johnniquest_ resurfaces like the kraken to check twitter during #campnanowrimo:
me, after participating in nanowrimo for 13 years: I am not a pantser

me, a day before camp nanowrimo: I THINK I'M GOING TO PANTS MY STORY, HMMMM, WHAT COULD GO WRONG?

me, during camp nanowrimo:
No, we are not going to talk about the fact that I wouldn't be like 15 days behind if I had just started with a damn outline.
I am a plotter who struggles with the fact that I'm also lazy as hell
me, struggling for 16 days without an outline: wow my story sucks

me, spending 20 minutes outlining on my lunch break:
so I'm pretty much a "NOTECARD METHOD OR BUST" outliner, but I downloaded WorkFlowy on my laptop and I created my #campnanowrimo outline in it and it is REALLY working for me

https://blog.workflowy.com/2019/05/03/short-stories/
For anyone who is interested, this is my tried and true outlining method, aka the Notecard Method, that I have been using since... 2009? It's great for outliners who like a more flexible outline.
https://margaretdilloway.com/2010/09/06/how-to-outline-a-novel-60-index-cards-method/
With a notecard outline, I always include a few scenes that I don't plan on adding to the story but would be fun to write as "emergency cards" to use when I get stuck. For example, every NaNoWriMo outline I've worked on has a card that says "Characters go to Disneyland."
I've never once actually had to write a "Characters go to Disneyland" scene but it always makes me feel better know that's an option when dealing with writer's block.
That said, I've been trying to find an app that could either replicate or replace the Notecard Method for me and WorkFlowy is...uh, working for my flow.

I have BOXES of notecards bundled together for like 10+ years of writing projects.

It's getting ridiculous, friends.
me, trying to write at home this morning: no coffee in the house, can't function

me, trying to write at the coffeeshop instead: no seats with outlets available and my laptop is dead

me, trying to write at work before opening: my coworkers arRIVE EARLY AND INTERRUPT ME
sorry everyone I was going to run word sprints but then the universe said
me, during nanowrimo: I'LL MEET THIS DEADLINE IF IT'S THE LAST THING I DO AHHHHHHHHHHH

me, looking at my pathetic camp nanowrimo graphic:
live footage of my #campnanowrimo graph:
so in that second screencap you can see I was running word sprints over on @hpwordsprints and behind that, was my languishing #campnanowrimo project

spending my writing time wisely https://twitter.com/JessieQuinn/status/1155338035849916421
I am willing to accept that I can only do the "50K in 30 Days" writing routine once a year and I'm okay with that
comment that my camp goal was actually "25K in 30 Days" at your own risk
SO GUESS WHO JUST DISCOVERED THAT I HAD ACCIDENTALLY MARKED SEVERAL SCENES AS "DO NOT COUNT IN MY WORD COUNT"

I HAVE WRITTEN 5,137 WORDS

I THOUGHT I WAS AT 3,000
so my sister and I went out to a coffee shop to write this week and I swear, I got more writing done sitting next to her than I have in several weeks

mostly because I was afraid she'd look over at my screen and catch me scrolling twitter

god, peer pressure works
my graph is ICONIC
shout out to the magical cabin in general and @Aliaa_ElNashar in specific for a pretty decent cabin graphic
