#SaintsFC 2019/20 Season Review 🔴⚪️
Pre-Season Match #1 - SCR Altach 1-1 #SaintsFC

Positives? Che Adams played brilliantly and it was great to see N'Lundulu among the first team, as he should be. Worth also noting Altach were fresh off a game vs West Ham. Both teams could've scored more, but it's just a friendly.
Pre-Season Match #2 - Preston North End 1-3 #SaintsFC

Rotation was expected with Macau around the corner, yet the majority put in a very decent shift. Smallbone, Klarer and Vokins all looked comfortable against decent Championship opposition, but Hoedt was as calamitous as ever.
Pre-Season Match #3 - Guangzhou R&F 0-4 #SaintsFC

Wow, what a convincing win this was. Great to see goals for Klarer and Valery following good outings up to this point. First time we've scored 4 in ages as well, even including pre-season. Up the Saints.
Pre-Season Match #4 - Feyenoord 1-3 #SaintsFC

Another great win and another three goals to add to the tally. Cédric and Hoedt stood out for me and it was fantastic to round it all off with a Boufal goal. Can't wait until we're playing at home and in front of our own fans again.
Pre-Season Match #5 - #SaintsFC 2-0 FC Köln

Unbeaten in pre-season. Three goals conceded throughout. Fifteen scored. I'm genuinely looking forward to the season ahead now, regardless of whether we make any more signings or not. Up the fucking Saints!
Matchday #1 - Burnley 3-0 #SaintsFC

Disgraceful showing from almost everyone involved. A typical shithouse Burnley performance, but we played right into their hands. Couldn't execute a pass, couldn't pounce on any deflections, couldn't test Pope at all. Buck your ideas up.
Matchday #2 - #SaintsFC 1-2 Liverpool

Nothing to be ashamed of really, the game was there for the taking though. As expected, dropping Ings did him the world of good and he finally scored a league goal in 2019. Good to have two of the toughest games of the season out of the way.
Matchday #3 - Brighton 0-2 #SaintsFC

Hey look, a win! Pleasantly surprised to see Danso start and earn a clean sheet. Ralph's subs were class today as Djenepo and Boufal had a great impact on the game. Not sure what Andone was trying, but I hope Valery is okay. Onto United.
Carabao Cup Round 2 - Fulham 0-1 #SaintsFC

Mixed emotions about this result as although the win is nice and all, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried for Redmond and Obafemi. Hopefully they can recover over the international break after the United game. Good win nonetheless.
Matchday #4 - #SaintsFC 1-1 Manchester United

A result I definitely would've taken pre-game and one I'm happy to take now. Really happy for Vestergaard, he's earned that goal after a lot of unnecessary shit. from the fanbase. Danso's red card was frustrating, but we march on.
Matchday #5 - Sheffield United 0-1 #SaintsFC

Another well-earned win. Ralph realised Djenepo wasn't working at LWB and made the decision to push him into attack before it was too late. Scored a beauty of a winner. Undefeated in four, let's take this momentum to Bournemouth.
Matchday #6- #SaintsFC 1-3 Bournemouth

We were going to lose again eventually, it means more to them than us. Ralph's first half tactics were undeniably wrong. Who'd have thought our best LB would be Bertrand? Biggest game of the year up next, let's fucking see the reaction.
Carabao Cup Round 3 - Portsmouth 0-4 #SaintsFC

PAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA GET FUCKED
Matchday #7 - Spurs 2-1 #SaintsFC

Disappointing from Ralph again to be honest. Rather than simply swapping Cédric for Valery and keeping 4-3-3, he opted for adding another CB and forcing the same problems we've had with 5ATB all season. No shortage of effort, but still a loss.
Matchday #8 - #SaintsFC 1-4 Chelsea

Well this is sparked some meltdown, hasn't it? Negatives aside, I think Long really was explosive at times. Ings has another goal to his name, thanks to a great Valery assist. Please though Ralph, just drop Gunn... Macca was dropped for less.
Matchday #9 - Wolves 1-1 #SaintsFC

We've now scored in each of our last 10 games, so it's clear to see why we are where we are. Definitely more positives to take today than from recent weeks, but Gunn still has to be dropped. He's making the same mistakes week after week.
Matchday #10 - #SaintsFC 0-9 Leicester City

I can't believe I'm writing this. Nine goals at home. Fucking embarrassing from Gunn's mistakes to Bertrand's red card to the penalty that helped them break the record. I'm fully expecting Ralph to walk on this result... I feel ill.
Carabao Cup Round 4 - Manchester City 3-1 #SaintsFC

Was always going to be tough, but we rolled over for City in the first hour or so. Only when Redmond & Che came on did we even look capable of doing anything. Negatives aside, happy for Stephens and nice to see Vokins feature.
Matchday #11 - Manchester City 2-1 #SaintsFC

This sport really can be cruel at times. Forgetting the result, we held City at their place for 70 minutes. I didn't think we'd come out of back-to-back trips to the Etihad with mostly positives, so let's take this to Everton now.
Matchday #12 - #SaintsFC 1-2 Everton

A horrible result. This was a must-win game. Nobody looked up for it and Ralph's decisions were weird. We weren't pressing, we weren't attacking, we just made St Mary's their playground. A few okay attacks, but no positives aside from that.
Matchday #13 - Arsenal 2-2 #SaintsFC

A point I would've taken before the game, but I can't help but feel we were robbed of all three. Thrilled to see our pressing game return and I understand the selection choices. Now please.. PLEASE use this as momentum for our upcoming games.
Matchday #14 - #SaintsFC 2-1 Watford

Should never have needed a late comeback to secure this win, but I'm glad we did. The players reacted to an increasingly negative atmosphere and delivered the turnaround. I'm an emotional mess.
Matchday #15 - #SaintsFC 2-1 Norwich

A first half you could expect from Liverpool or City, it really was that dominant. Glad we got the goals when we did with some dodgy play in the second half. Still though, another huge win and many positives to take.

Happy Anniversary Ralph!
Matchday #16 - Newcastle 2-1 #SaintsFC

Bitterly disappointing result. We dominated too much of that game to come away with nothing. If you're Ralph out or Gunn in after that performance though, please unfollow me. #SaintsFC
Matchday #17 - #SaintsFC 0-1 West Ham

Another very disappointing result. We barely looked awake for the majority of the game and were lucky not to concede more. Some of these players aren't fit to wear the shirt anymore. Get your wallet out, Gao.
Matchday #18 - Aston Villa 1-3 #SaintsFC

THIS was the reaction that was needed last week, but I'll absolutely take this win to take us above Villa and out of the bottom three for Christmas! Surely Southgate has to consider Ings, no? Hope we can give Chelsea a game on Boxing Day.
Matchday #19 - Chelsea 0-2 #SaintsFC

I've honestly needed time to calm down from this one. What a performance from everyone involved and what a huge three points. So happy for Obafemi and Redmond, they needed their goals. Is it too much now to ask for the same against Palace?
Matchday #20 - #SaintsFC 1-1 Crystal Palace

A win would've been nice to cap the year off, but this definitely feels like a point won rather than two lost. Good to know JWP still living rent-free in Palace fans' heads. Going into 2020 unbeaten in our last three games! UTFS
Matchday #21 - #SaintsFC 1-0 Spurs

Another HUGE win that throws us into the middle of the table now before Arsenal's game. Lose to West Ham and Newcastle? Fuck it, we'll just beat Chelsea and Spurs instead. And keep clean sheets while we're at it. Big start to 2020! #SaintsFC
FA Cup Round 3 - #SaintsFC 2-0 Huddersfield

This really could have been a banana skin game, but we did what we needed to do. Fantastic to see Will Smallbone and Jake Vokins not only getting starts, but goals too. There's real potential in our academy again and it's great to see.
Matchday #22 - Leicester City 1-2 #SaintsFC

I think this is the biggest win of the lot so far, I really do. This is not only three points against a top team this season, but a statement of how far we've come since the reverse fixture. SO fucking proud of this team!
Matchday #23 - #SaintsFC 2-3 Wolves

The undefeated run couldn't go on forever and this game barely affects our position in the table, but the way in which we let this slip hurts. 2-0 up and cruising.. I don't know what happened in the 2nd half but I hope Ralph lays into them.
Matchday #24 - Crystal Palace 0-2 #SaintsFC

Great reaction after Wolves. This just isn't a rivalry. It never was and never will be. That being said, it's great to see a result like this to silence their fans. Once again proving we aren't reliant on Ings and up to 9th now!
FA Cup Round 4 - #SaintsFC 1-1 Spurs

Not sure who would've wanted the replay least out of both teams, but a replay's what we're getting. Happy to see Boufal scoring but sad about Stu's injury. Not our best 90 mins, but hopefully we'll have a signing or two before we meet again.
Matchday #25 - Liverpool 4-0 #SaintsFC

Don't talk to me about Kevin Friend. Yes Liverpool were rampant in the second half, but that 47th minute incident changed the outlook of the entire game. 4-0 is harsh on us, but it's the reaction to this loss that counts more than anything.
FA Cup Round 5 - Spurs 3-2 #SaintsFC

This hurt. What the fuck is the point in VAR if you're going to choose when you want to use it? Son's a diving prick and should have been punished. Instead, we're out of the cup. It's games like this that make you lose love for the sport...
Matchday #26 - #SaintsFC 1-2 Burnley

I wish we had an answer for anti-football, I really do. There are easier opponents ahead, so as long as we don't get complacent we'll still be fine. KWP seemed competent on his debut and nice to see another Ings goal despite the result.
Matchday #27 - #SaintsFC 2-0 Aston Villa

Nice to see us back to winning ways, and with a clean sheet to boot. Smallbone blended right in today and though I wish we got the second goal earlier, great to seal up the win and halt any negative momentum.
Matchday #8 - West Ham 3-1 #SaintsFC

Not a good day on the road today. If Ings was fit enough for the bench, he should have started when we needed him most. Credit to Obafemi for the goal, but our back line didn't cover themselves in glory today. Disappointing, but we march on.
Matchday #29 - #SaintsFC 0-1 Newcastle

Another tough performance to watch, but we looked second best for most of the game. No complaints about Djenepo's red card or the penalty decision, but man you've got to feel for Moussa... and yes, I put last game as Matchday #8 by mistake.
Matchday #29.5 - #SaintsFC ?-? Manchester City

Great to bounce back from a mixed bag of results to hold the champions to a draw! Good to see we dominated in the fullback positions after Newcastle, but Pep's men held out for the draw. Hope to see more of this from the team. 💪
29/03/20 - 22 days since #SaintsFC's last game.

I really miss football, and it doesn't look like it's coming back any time soon. I miss the emotion, the highs and I even miss the lows. I miss the tactial analysis and moments of magic. Please give this season closure in due time.
01/06/20 - 86 days since #SaintsFC's last game.

Just over two weeks until the season resumes; for better or for worse remains to be seen. If the news about Ralph is true, then tomorrow will give us a much-needed boost.

Up the fucking Saints. 🔴⚪️
Friendly Match #1 - #SaintsFC 3-2 Bristol City

Emphasis was clearly on rebuilding match sharpness today, though there were still pros and cons to this game. Smallbone and Armstrong dictated the midfield, but our defence was lacking at times. Thankfully for us, theirs was worse.
Matchday #30 - Nowrich 0-3 #SaintsFC

We're BACK! For as rusty as both sides were in the first 45, we really came into our own in the second half. Love that the 5 subs gives us a chance to showcase more youth. Hope to see Tella more in the future! Great win all things considered.
Matchday #31 - #SaintsFC 0-2 Arsenal

The scoreline doesn't tell half the story. Two horrendous McCarthy mistakes gift Nketiah and Willock goals to win it. PEH overhits a dumb pass to Stephens forcing him to make a risky tackle, and now he's out for 3 games. Cheers Pierre. 👍
Matchday #32 - Watford 1-3 #SaintsFC

Another solid away win, not much else to say. Our away form is up there with the best, but our home form needs improving drastically. Story of the season. JWP's free kicks > your midfielder's. Totally didn't forget to add to this thread btw.
Matchday #33 - #SaintsFC 1-0 Manchester City

CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Matchday #34 - Everton 1-1 #SaintsFC

A point I would've taken before KO, but with the chances we had to put the game out of sight in the first half, I can't help but feel it's two points dropped. Happy to see Ings scoring again, should be on pens from here on too.
Matchday #35 - Manchester United 2-2 #SaintsFC

We did very well to remain in the game despite looking out of it for most of the second half, and got our reward with moments to go. Another positive result on the road. Beautiful stuff.
