There are few things that I care about as much as I do the environment and anti cruelty. I know that it can be alluring to think that a plant-based diet is good for the planet, but I'd like to point out the facts as they stand:
Agriculture is one of the LARGEST polluters on the planet, and its carbon emissions are second behind industrial emissions. When you combine that with deforestation, agriculture is amazingly harmful to the environment. And loss of habitat is THE biggest global threat to life.
Growing crops to feed the human population with current practices requires great amounts of land. The loss of land means loss of biomes. Loss of biomes means loss of live, often permanently. And that is cruel AF.
Sometimes we think in ways about our food systems that make us feel good, but aren't really *doing* good. So, because this is so important: if you care about the planet, and life on it, maybe we could think about our activities in a holistic way, a deeper way?
If we lean towards thinking in terms of what our activities are harming- rather than thinking about what we're helping-will lead us to solve problems rather than resting on our laurels.
I'm in a straight panic about our activities on this planet, what it means for life, and how NOT focused on it we are.
