Things brexidiots get confused about:
1. The EU is NOT a dictatorship; it is an international treaty organisation, just like the WTO, UN and NATO, as well as the most complex trade agreement on the planet. It is therefore the most complex set of LEGAL CONTRACTS on the planet.
The EU is NOT undemocratic or looking to take over; it has a better form of democracy than the UK or USA BECAUSE the veto means every treaty change has to make every member state better off. In fact, it CANNOT federate. https://twitter.com/tfoale/status/1074909146502348805?s=19
The EU does not want an army; it has no land for bases, citizens of it's own, generals to run it or budget for arms. EU members merely want mutual co-ordination so that, if any member is attacked, there is a legal basis to come to their defence and we don't shoot our own people.
