Honestly the reason I used "Philippine Mythology" as a catch-all term for my work is because I consider my work as something introductory. I feel it was the most direct approach to gaining an audience and trying to get more people (esp pinoys) to pay attention

I felt that if I had a mixed audience of International and Filipinos, more Filipinos would be interested or encouraged into researching our own mythology. But the thing is, non Filipinos wouldnt know where in the world is Visayas? Where is Luzon? Who are the tagalogs? Etc

So instead of saying "she is a tagalog goddess" I'd end up saying "she is a Philippine goddess" and adding footnotes like "specifically she is tagalog" for those who are more keen on researching. The reason I have almost no sources other than wikipedia is because there are

Almost no written sources at all. Seriously. The oldest books are written by a Czech guy. But we KNOW these gods exist because it was passed down, story to story. And some gods names still exist in our vocabulary. "Buwan (moon)", "Bulalakaw" (shooting star) etc

Especially "Bahala na" which means "whatever happens, it is up to god"

So it's really hard to like. Cite sources on Diwata when the first time I've heard of Diwata was when I was like. 5 and my mom pointed at a tree stump going "bahay yan ng diwata, dont go there they might curse you." ("Diwata live there")

Also Filipinos have this INTENSE colonial mentality. I'm talking intense "no you are not Filipino you are white your grandmother was white". Literally this is true in almost every Filipino. We were obsessed with erasing our own culture, programmed by Spanish colonizers.
