Nejiten Daily Head Canon Thread

1: Neji didn’t really discover and understand his feelings for Tenten until after the war. Perhaps seeing into the eyes of the afterlife before being revived changed him in terms of understanding his emotions and not taking things like love for granted.

Since I missed yesterday, here’s a longer Headcanon. Please know that I wanted to add more detail but then it would’ve ended up becoming a one shot and chief said that this ain’t it.

3. Neji will literally start fuming with his face abnormally red whenever Tenten initiates affection in public. Several people have come up to the couple to ask if he was alright to which Tenten replies by kissing his cheek, making his condition far worse.

4. Neji only allows Tenten to play with and brush his hair. There is something about both her presence and her fingertips that makes the world’s problems disappear for awhile, leaving him to ease his back onto her torso slightly as his unease melts away.

14. Despite Neji not being a fan of sweets, he is actually very good at baking. Tenten on the other hand, loves sweet things but does better in cooking savory foods. (Okay but Neji wearing a pink apron with frills on it and coming out with some muffins with matching mits)

20. Because Neji was not a fan of allowing Tenten to handle weapons while she was pregnant, she spent her time making homemade ninja-tool plushies for her children that were safe to use and soft to the touch (she wasn’t very good at knitting booties so she let Neji do that)

21. Hanabi absolutely adores Tenten. She is always joking around with Neji and teasing him about how much his wife loves her more than him. Tenten and Neji find her jokes to be funny and they will both train with her and take her out shopping with them.

22. Tenten usually doesn’t win arguments with Neji (not on the logical standpoint) and it’s usually her that caves and apologizes because she doesn’t like it when Neji ignores her (both are stubborn when it comes to who is right).

23. Neji won't admit it to his friends but he really enjoys doing face masks with Tenten (she started making him do them with her in their teenage years). Hinata and Hanabi can see right through him and have pictures of him wearing them that he has no clue about.

24. No one is a bigger Nejiten shipper than Lee. He and Gai Sensei spied on them a lot when their relationship first started. They were too giddy and oblivious to know that both Neji and Tenten knew they were being followed by two mysterious bowl cuts.

28. Neji and Tenten’s child’s first word was, to both of her parent’s horror, “YOSH!” After that, Tenten and Neji banned Lee from their home for a while as they attempted to teach her new words in place of that one.

29. After they were married, Tenten and Neji left to attend a vendor/weapons festival in a neighboring village. After the festival had ended, they found a secluded area outside and went star gazing only to have them fall asleep underneath the heavens in a field to themselves.

30. Everytime Neji and Tenten make love, she kisses the scars on his torso and when they are done, she lays her head on the one over his heart to remind herself that he is there, he is alive, and that the world gave him the second chance he deserved.

31. Tenten and Neji’s children were very well-behaved throughout their years, other than their daughter being a bit mischievous with her Byakugon. Both were seen as the top of their designated class and made chunin on their first attempt at the exams.

32. It shouldn't be a surprise to say that Neji and Tenten's children were adorable as babies. Both were chubby and cute and loved to be held by their parents. Their son (second child) especially enjoyed following around his older sister and learning from her.

33. The first (and second time) Tenten started going into labor, Neji was the most frazzled he had ever been in his entire life. He was anything but calm as he picked his wife up bridal-style and sprinted the fastest he’s ever been to the mid-wives (or hospital, whichever).

34. Neji did not sleep for the first few nights after his daughter was born. He forced himself to stay awake so he could be there in a flash whenever she started crying in the middle of the night. Needless to say, Tenten put a stop to that before his health could decline.

37. Tenten wasn't really that grumpy while pregnant, but she did cry frequently. One time, Naruto told her that she was getting big and even though she knew it was a fact (she was pregnant, duh), she started to cry. Neji nearly paralyzed Naruto for making Tenten cry.

38. Neji and Tenten also shared their first kiss in Naruto: The Last. What am I saying? This is a head canon? No no, this is canon folks.

39. When their child was a baby, Neji and Tenten decided to not go on missions at the same time. It was either Neji with Tenten caring for the child or vice verse. It wasn’t that they trusted Lee it’s just... well, he gave the kid a 35 lb. barbell the day after birth.

40. After Keiko was born, Neji spent a lot of sleepless nights trying to figure out if he was being/going to be a good father for his daughter. Tenten saw right through him and managed to convince him that he is a wonderful father and that they will learn more as they go.

41. Whenever Tenten is down in the dumps at her shop because not a single customer has come in, Neji will disguise himself (using the jutsu) as a different Shinobi and go into her shop to buy something, all while pretending and looking like somebody else. Tenten has no idea.

42. Even though "The Last" movie was primarily about Naruto and Hinata, Neji and Tenten also had their own section about them. When he returned from saving the moon and Hinata, Tenten launched herself on him and hugged him. That was the same night he told her he loved her.

43. The only time Neji activates his Byakugan when he isn't fighting is when he is mad or when he and Tenten are making love. The intensity of the emotions (both good and bad) can make the veins appear on their own (also he looks hot af).

44. When Tenten and Neji first became an official couple, Lee would follow them around with a camera, snapping pictures in a not-so subtle way. Neji air palmed a bunch of Tenten's weapons in Lee's direction when the couple's patience wavered.

45. While she was overjoyed with the news, Tenten still had her fears with pregnancy. Neji refused to go on any missions whenever she was beginning to slip. He never wanted her to think she would be alone and assured her that everything would be alright.

46. Neji gets a seasonal sickness in the lateness of Winter. It’s usually just a bad cold he has had ever since he was a child that always occurred around the same time. Tenten doesn’t usually get sick and will almost baby Neji (especially after dating and marriage).

47. Tenten started sobbing when Neji came back from the dead. All of her grief and happiness came out at once as she held his head in her arms and pressed her forehead against his.

48. Tenten, though she won’t say it to anyone, can become extremely worried when Neji leaves for missions. It only got worse after marriage because she would spend many nights lying awake in their bed, imagining every possible bad outcome there was until he came home.

49. Tenten has fallen asleep on Neji for years, from the time they were genin to when they were married. If they are sitting outside, either taking a break from training or just enjoying the fresh air, Neji will eventually feel the weight of Tenten's head on his shoulder.

50. Tenten is slightly ticklish on her neck in a specific spot so whenever she and Neji have an argument and she is still a little mad, he will come up behind her and nuzzle the area on her neck. She can never help the smile that appears on her face when he does that.
