some day we'll storm the courtrooms, tear down the flags, dismantle the benches and boxes, and in these now empty and majestic rooms we will host conflict resolution and long, messy, challenging, and ultimately productive processes of transformative justice. we will cry and sing.
some day we'll storm city hall and no one will ever sit in those seats again unless their neighbor could sit there the next day. in their multitudinous and changing hands will be the mandate of the people, whose will enact, not "represent". we will cheer and celebrate.
some day we'll burn every prison and police station, and when the ashes have scattered to the wind we'll build public housing on the remains. no one will ever pay rent to live in them, and the formerly criminalized will dance, knowing they are safer than they've ever been.
i can feel it in my heart and i know it in my bones. they do not have more darkness than we have light & they cannot smother more than we can dream. the road will be long and winding and full of mistakes and setbacks and i will walk it with you every step, if you'll walk with me.
