PMB needs to phase put this petroleum subsidy. It is senseless and unsustainable.

There is minimal correlation between petrol and the price of food. It is too insignificant in the pricing model for food. Most of our farm produce are transported by diesel engines.
I am yet to see any benefit of this useless subsidy or under recovery as coined by NNPC in the lives of the people. I mean we have spent 10trn Naira in 12 years subsidizing fuel, madness.

80% of the poor people in Nigeria live in rural communities. They don't have cars..
They trek to their farms, they don't use generators except for small scale businesses in those areas.

Subsidy on petrol is projected to hit 1.2trn this year. The same govt is looking for 260bn to complete 2nd Niger bridge and 153bn for Lagos - Ibadan expressway
We have mass housing problems, no health infrastructure, we cannot expand power transmission yet we are spending trillions on petrol. Who are those who benefit from this petrol subsidy?

We have 774 LGA in Nigeria, 100m per LGA to build a health centre = 77bn
This is how much we spend on fuel subsidy in 2 months. We are burning revenue that can fix other critical aspects of our lives on bad roads, driving used cars.

Cisco, Ekeson and co use diesel powered luxury buses. Investment in mass transit will wipe out the effect of petrol.
Investment in rail, diesel powered trucks and cooling vans to move agric produce, green houses, silos, tractors, fertilizer plants will make food so abundant that prices will crash. It is not petrol!

We need social housing projects like the Eric Moore towers for middle income
Earners..How much will it cost the govt in partnership with the private sector to replicate Eric Moore towers in several cities in Nigeria?

How has cheap petrol affected rent, healthcare, food, clothing, education?
We cannot fund primary education properly, we cannot fund tertiary education, our revenue is abysmally low, yet we are bothered about petroleum cost.

It is senseless and if you have any counter argument please be my guest.
