I want to start a thread: Black men who have PhD’s or who are working on PhD’s drop your discipline, your university, and your research interests. My hope is to build community specifically for black men who are attaining or have attained their PhD. #trynagrad #FirstGenDocs

The number of black women who have PhD’s is nearly double that of black men with PhD’s. Black women have also done a great job of creating organizations that help to provide support to each other. I hope to do the same. I’ll start!!

I am Eugene B. Johnson, a 3rd year Political Science PhD student at Louisiana State University. My research interests are black women in politics and new age social movements. More specifically I look at black women and leadership in traditional and non-traditional politics.
