Happy LGBTQ+ Pride Month!!

The LGBTQ+ community and their allies commemorate the Stonewall riots and the first stone thrown by transgender activists Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera in New York in 1969.

In the Philippines, we also celebrate the rich depiction of LGBTQ+ in pre-colonial history and indigenous mythologies, namely, the gender fluid Babaylans (shamans and oracles), the homosexual love and union of the deities, Sidapa and Libulan (Visayas), Magindang and Bulan (Bicol)
and the union of intersex Lakapati and Bathala (Tagalog).

This month, we march forward and fight for the civil rights, respect, and acceptance that the LGBTQ+ deserve.
We call on to women, our greatest allies, to march with us and fight for us as we did during your own fight for gender equality and women's rights. To my people, my friends, know that you always have a family in me!!
