Gemma O' Doherty is the highest profile alt-right in Ireland.

She has been charitably described as a 'loon' and conspiracy theorist but it wasn't always this way.

I wanted to dig into her journey towards radicalization to see what we can learn from it:

Shortly after the horrific NZ mosque attacks, Gemma tweeted it had the hallmarks of a False Flag attack, likening it to 9/11 (which she also believes was a False Flag).

Right away you see what we are dealing with here - but rewind a few years and a different picture emerges. /2

Gemma was once a respected, award-winning investigative journalist.

She was fired in August 2013 under dubious circumstances and received widespread support for her Unfair Dismissal case, which she settled.

So how exactly does she go from that to a fringe, alt-right lunatic? /3

I'm not an expert on radicalization - but I do know vulnerability and susceptibility are key traits in indoctrination.

Within a span of 18 months, Gemma lost her job and then lost her husband to a sudden illness.

Whether these events played any role is speculative. /4

2014 and 2015 there was almost zero sign of any extremist rhetoric on her social media.

2016 began and Gemma was openly mocking Trump on twitter about his border wall idea and business failures.

Reading her TL 2014 to mid-2016 I'm in agreement with her on many issues. /5

As the US election drew closer, Gemma did a pretty dramatic pivot.

OUT went the Trump mockery and IN came the Clinton bashing.

September: Gemma questions Hillary's health due to her choice of sunglasses.

October: Gemma pushes the Uranium/Clinton Foundation conspiracy. /6

I did A LOT of trawling to see if there was any way I could begin to explain this dramatic shift in opinion.

I was able to determine her pivot coincided with her following 3 twitter accounts on the same day:

Prison Planet, Mike Cernovich and Alex Jones. /7

2017 was a pretty quiet year in terms of craziness for Gemma but later in the year - not long after Infowars pushed conspiracies on the subjectsubject - Gemma began pushing anti-vaxxer and 'fluoride causes cancer' propaganda. /8

2018 saw her descent down the rabbit hole accelerate.

The first mentions of George Soros, Cultural Marxism, Snowflakes, Antifa, SJW, Globalism all appear on her twitter feed.

Her conviction deepened that Soros is behind every problem facing Ireland and the world. /9

I can never confirm this but I'm confident she had never heard of George Soros in her life until 2016.

Anyway, with Soros busy trying to ruin Ireland (for unspecified reasons), Gemma began turning on the LGBT community and 'cult of transgenders'.

Deeply unhappy with Soros, Gemma turned her attentions towards Islam in a big way.

But before she got her teeth stuck into that, she took aim at the Jews first in an anti-semitic post - since deleted - of which the Internet has preserved: /11

Search for Gemma and Islam and you can take your pick of dozens of Islamphobic posts.

This wasn't always the way.

In 2015 Gemma campaigned for the release of journalists (including Muslim ones) imprisoned in Egypt.

2019 Red Pilled Gemma has a slightly different view. /12

What prompted me to do this is actually a photo she tweeted yesterday - a racist dogwhistle - and I wanted to see if the hatred was always a theme for her.

The tweet/photo is below and it's absolutely adorable I hope you'll agree. /13

Despite her racism, I suppose a fact or 2 is relevant now:

-Per the last census, Ireland is 94.3% white.

-Per same, Muslims account for 1.3% of the population.

Selectively showing one adorable class of diverse kids out of context - simply to be racist - is sad as fuck. /14

Furthermore, fuck Gemma.

I'm by no means presenting to you as fact that she wasn't always a bigoted piece of shit deep down...

... but if she was, she sure hid that very well until Infowars, Trump and the alt-right came to prominence in 2016 and beyond. /16

I'd be remiss not to pass some remark on these Twitter follows by Gemma while I'm at it (interesting sequence): /17

Given Gemma's journalistic career did include articles on ISIS and vaccines, it's impossible for me to state definitively she was radicalised by the US alt-right.

What I can state definitively is they empowered and amplified her to voice her racism out loud. /18

Any time I feel sympathetic towards her descent into lunacy, I quickly remember she is going to get kids killed with her anti-vaxx propaganda.

But in truth, what we have here is a case study of just how influential the US alt-right are and it's quite scary to me because.../19

...I'm not worried Gemma will turn to violence - and even if she did we have no guns here.

But there's plenty out there just as susceptible as Gemma in countries that do have guns.

It's how you get Brenton Tarrant in NZ mass murdering innocent Muslims in cold blood. /20

Postscript -

I spent ages wading through her vile attitude towards Muslim immigrants & came across something that made me sad.
