Alkaline water is a high priced hoax that will not change the pH of your blood and tissues. However, I am very curious if this water is actually pH 10
As stated on the bottle. STAY TUNED FOR LAB TESTING!

Okay, just finished up with a meeting and got some samples on the thermocycler, so I'll be starting SOON!
Oh no! I spilled some! Maybe I should have used secondary containment procedures

First, Iâm going to try these pH strips. Mind you, they look
old, and in fact, probably are expired

Well, this looks pretty neutral to me, but I need to track down some other test strips. Canât rely on only one data point here. This experiment is too important!
Okay, got some newer ones from the lab down the hall. Note: These are also expired
Doesnât anyone have unexpired pH strips?!

Here we go!
Well, not only did this not read as pH 10, itâs not even showing up as 7! Hard to tell here, but itâs closest to pH 5.

Ok, give me a few min to transfer my actual samples and calibrate the meter. Stay tuned!
Still here! Trying to track down some unexpired pH calibration solutions.
But I'll add that a sales rep came by a couple weeks ago and checked it out...and it was working fabulously!

Here are the final results!!!
Also had a request from @nchembio to test ddH2O, so here we have tap, tap distilled, and Milli-Q water. Letâs see what they are!

Ok, and to be clear, this is Barnstead, not Milli-Q, but wtf?! pH 5.73?! I even went to get a second aliquot fresh from the system downstairs.
I wonder when when the last time it was serviced?

Just wanted to follow up on yesterdayâs pH thread to share this blog post I wrote a while back about pseudoscience and health claims. https://cherylkellercapone.wordpress.com/2016/10/25/whats-the-harm/
