The Variable Schedule Reward Zettelkasten. A strategy for Memexing Twitter (to get better ideas, and build new relationships)
Before you tweet, think, does this relate to other things I've said?

Build on that thread
Search for those tweets using from:youusername https://twitter.com/visakanv/status/1085375245664555008
Building threads (with help from search) causes you to stumble on old ideas, which is a great way to have new ones.

You're different now.

The past is a foreign country.

Your old self is a different person, but a great collaborator.

Surprise yourself.
Added benefit -- you expose your old ideas to new followers, or people who missed them the first time.

Also generative https://twitter.com/Conaw/status/1129451021535604736
When your threads are deeply interconnected, people who discover you can explore your ideas (and extend them) according to their own interest.

While you sleep.

That's that new money shit. https://twitter.com/naval/status/1002106893265920000
Threads on Twitter, as a tool for thought, let you build a GTD like system you can trust.

Each tweet is a discrete deliverable, -- in language of @fortelabs -- something you can put down and pick back up for something larger https://twitter.com/Conaw/status/1129788853189955584
Not without risks and tradeoffs https://twitter.com/Conaw/status/1129528166236561408
If you have (or decide in advance you will have) a community that embraces weirdness / confusion -- excitement and opportunity to discover can override fear of looking dumb.

Seems like that's what going on with @whatstheii https://twitter.com/Conaw/status/1085332535184285696
Likes, replies, and retweets are exciting and addicting.

But if you're using twitter to think, it's key only audience you're really interested in is your future self.

I bore myself sometimes.

Part of the game. Takes practice for skill to match taste.

Twitter as a tool for thought is far far better when you write more than read. Helpful to walk across the room to get your laptop

This thread from @visakanv is in one of the nested threads, but it really should be top level, as it probably best summarizes the risks/reward and best attitude to take to this whole process/experiment https://twitter.com/visakanv/status/1040450987754811392?s=19

A hack for mobile, since it's a pain to search for a tweet when in the middle of a draft, or when you found something you want to reply to https://twitter.com/Conaw/status/1131384972873351174?s=19

Though on the other hand, when you have a feed of people you trust to nourish / prod your mind, there is something to be said for reacting to those -- joining the jam, listening to the music https://twitter.com/vgr/status/1125119314611171328?s=20
One of the biggest weaknesses of twitter for Zettelkasting is that, when you're looking at a tweet, you can't see whether you, or any of the people you follow, have quoted that tweet and placed it in a new context. This extension fixes that

Incredible https://twitter.com/Malcolm_Ocean/status/1149847849145905153
Here is the link for the extension -- possibly one of the best additions to the Zettelkasten process I've found since started using Twitter

Put the link to a search results url like below - for your name - in your bio.

Or, if you find a new interesting account, search that for them rather than scrolling their timeline.
Threads of threads like this one are easier to navigate than search.
