The future of journalism can only be saved by woke privileged kids.
Yes, journalism kids who are still in school. The world needs the truth tellers, sure. It needs you now more than ever, but you have to be privileged to bear the challenge of holding the line for the rest of your lives.
Ask any incumbent journalist how much they are making, and you will always hear the caveat: it is a vocation.

Ask any former journalist, and the tale starts with a long sigh.
There are many reasons why journalism pay is low, especially if you don’t look good enough to be on camera. Then again, even TV reporters don’t earn that well.
So are we poor? No. Are we fucking rich? Nooooo.

Check the background of those big names who stayed long in the industry. If they are not from well-off families, they are married into one.
Is that a problem? No.

But if you’re an editor or a producer who throws around the line “para sa bayan” or “serbisyo” to young journalists struggling to balance lack of money for home expenses and the cost of being a journalist, well...

Check your privilege.
