despite my issues with the last couple of seasons, game of thrones is still my favourite show in the world and one of the best, most iconic shows in television history. so in honour of it ending on sunday, here's a thread of my favourite scenes from throughout the show.

1. remember when the show delivered some of the best scenes on television without having to include dragons and battles and character assassination.

2. everything about this scene is a masterpiece; the score, the acting, the suspense, the editing. EMMY AWARD.

3. this will forever be the most iconic, shocking, traumatising scene in television history. imagine thinking i'll ever be over it.

4. best death scene of the entire show. PERIOD.

5. give it up for the best scene of dialogue to ever grace out screens.

6. this wil forever, hands down be my favourite and most emotional scene of the entire show and you can't change my mind.

7. THE LOOKS ON THEIR FACES WHEN DAENERYS STARTS SPEAKING VALYRIAN WILL NEVER GET OLD.

8. POWER IS POWER BITCH

9. throwback to when the show actually knew how to deliver complex, hooking dialogue.

10. ARYA STARK, AZOR AHAI, THE PRINCESS THAT WAS PROMISED, THE BRINGER OF THE DAWN, THAT BITCH. WE STAN.

11. round of applause for the best combat sequence on the entire show.

12. "you're not going to serve, you're going to die."

13. everyone say thank you sansa stark

14. the moment we all collectively realised we were screwed.

15. TELL THEM WINTER CAME FOR HOUSE FREY

16. the most universally satisfying scene, that every game of thrones fans can agree they cheered at.

17. this scene will never not give me chills. the only good thing to come out of the season 7 winterfell plot.

18. this is the standard we deserved in season 8.

19. if you say this scene didn't shock the life out of you then you're lying.

20. remember when they actually gave kit emotional scenes and allowed him the opportunity to show off his talent.

21. can we just pretend this was jaime and brienne's last scene of the show.

22. behold, the birth of the best player in the game.

23. SER BRIENNE OF TARTH, THE BEST FIGHTER IN THE SEVEN KINGDOMS

24. miss lena headey delivering the most iconic scenes since season 1.

25. the entire battle of the blackwater is a masterpiece.

26. I'M SUPPOSED TO FEEL SORRY FOR THAT BITCH? I DON'T.

27. remember when d&d knew how to deliver a pay off and satisfyingly tie up stories and give characters satisfactory endings?

28. cersei and sansa's dynamic was one of the most interesting to watch of the earlier seasons. we were robbed of a scene with them in season 8.

29. the opening scene of 4x03 is so under appreciated. lena's acting, the music, the cinematography, sansa's escape, the plot twist. A LITERAL MASTERPIECE.

30. kit and sophie have more chemistry arguing than most actors achieve in a lifetime.

31. PHEW SOPHIE AND ALFIE REALLY KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK WITH THEIR ACTING IN THIS SCENE.

32. the potential that this scene opened up: jon as king, sansa ruling beside him, the starks back in winterfell, northern independence, conflict with littlefinger. and all for nothing.

33. the long continuous shot of arya running through the streets of king's landing? seeing the devastation caused from her viewpoint on the ground? the splicing of arya being trampled with the hound being beaten? *chef's kiss*'

34. I CAN'T PUT IN TO WORDS THE EXCITEMENT THIS SCENE GAVE ME

35. MIGUEL SAPOCHNIK I OWE YOU MY LIFE FOR THIS SCENE

36. this is without a doubt the most brutal scene of the entire show. melisandre and her parents were so wrong for this.

37. the entire battle of the blackwater episode was perfection but this sequence just knocks it out of the park.

38. IF YOU WEREN'T LEFT SPEECHLESS BY THIS SCENE THEN YA BORING

39. imagine watching this scene and still hating sansa stark. the stench.

40. GIVE IT UP FOR THE AVENGER OF THE RED WEDDING.

41. "i choose violence." CERSEI LANNISTER INVENTED BEING THE BADDEST BITCH IN WESTEROS.

42. every scene between lena headey and peter dinklage screams emmy award but this one deserves a damn oscar

43. my heart was in my mouth throughout this entire scene. LITERAL CHILLS.

44. this is the first time i realised that arya meant BUSINESS.

45. imagine if season 8 managed to deliver character interactions this compelling and intriguing to watch.

46. HE GOT WHAT HE DESERVED

47. imagine how much more epic 8x03 would have been if they'd used the white walkers to their potential like they did here.

48. what was the reason. WHAT WAS THE REASON.

49. SANSA FINALLY CONFRONTING AND STANDING UP TO HER ABUSER IS MY FAVOURITE THING.

50. when will the real jon snow return from war?

51. they really had one of the most beautiful sibling relationships of the whole show and this scene is a perfect example.

52. "until i return, the north is yours." CAN YOU HEAR ME SOBBING.

53. CERSEI LANNISTER, THE FIRST QUEEN OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS. SHE REALLY IS THAT BITCH.

54. this scene didn't age well.

55. the scenes of tywin and arya together were some of the best of the entire show and i wish we got to see more of them.

56. drogon saving daenerys from the fighting pits is one of the only season 5 scenes that deserves rights.

57. acting didn't exist before lena headey delivered this performance.

58. none of this season 8 mess would have happened if robb was still king in the north. i miss my rightful king.

59. i don't care what cersei has done, my heart still breaks for her in this scene.

60. JAIME LANNISTER JUMPED UNARMED AND ONE HANDED IN FRONT OF A FULLY GROWN BEAR TO PROTECT BRIENNE OF TARTH. NOW THATS WHAT I CALL LOVE.

61. god you don't even understand the amount this scene made me cry.

62. what was the purpose LITERALLY WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE

63. "you were right the whole time." don't you miss when jon actually had his own mind and wasn't just a glorified extra?

64. daenerys was a bad bitch long before she had dragons and this scene is proof.

65. "a girl is arya stark of winterfell and i'm going home."

66. i have actual goosebumps.

67. olenna tyrell chugging poison and then confessing to joffrey's murder is still the most boss ass bitch thing anyone has ever done on this show.

68. we should have known from this scene that the night king didn't stand a chance.

69. this is such an underrated season 1 scene. summer was lowkey the best direwolf but some of y'all aren't ready to admit that.

70. let's take a moment for one of the biggest and most iconic cliffhangers on television.

71. jon and sansa really have one of the best relationships on the show and i'm so sad that tonight we'll be losing it.
