Okay so ladies, I’m here to give you the tea on the weave industry. Let’s begin
I have spent over a year researching and gathering information for you all (and my upcoming hair company). Let’s begin. First of all. Peruvian, Brazilian, Mongolian, Malaysian all this hair, does not exist (1)
These countries are not hair donating communities, hair only comes from South East Asia or Slavic countries (but this hair is expensive, I’m talking £500 a bundle) (2)
Majority of the hair is from China, India, Myanmar and Vietnam. Very little hair is from Cambodia. So forget Peruvian, Brazilian etc, it’s from these countries (3)
Secondly, forget these grades 9A, 8A, 10A and forget mink hair too. Mink is an animal and mink Brazilian hair is a term coined by Kash Doll’s stylist stylekendrap, who I have worked with her vendor before. The only types of hair is Virgin, Raw and Remy (4)
Raw hair is hair that has been cut directly from the donors hair and is stitched with NO Processing, (not even steam) and comes in the form of Indian, Cambodian, Vietnamese. (5)
Virgin hair is naturally cuticle aligned hair from one donor, this hair can lift to 613 colour from home cause the cuticles are aligned. This hair is often Chinese hair and is processed (chemically or by steam) to make different textures. Chinese hair is silky straight. (6)
Remy hair is manually cuticle aligned from multiple donors and this hair cannot lift to 613 but 27 as the cuticles are not aligned. This is known as 倒顺 to Chinese manufactures. Remy is also known as “manual hair” (7)
It has to be manually aligned cause the cuticles are all in different directions hence why it tangles. Majority of Aliexpress hair is manually aligned/Remy hair. Remy hair is very cheap, as you can imagine. A lot of the time it’s dipped in acid to strip the natural cuticles (8)
Remy hair can last long, up to a year if you get high quality hair. But if you’re going for longevity raw hair is longer lasting (9)
Now, let’s move onto Chinese one donor virgin hair. This hair is expensive, I’m talking $70-80 per bundle, because Chinese ladies know that their hair is a hot commodity and are charging more for their hair (10)
Raw hair is the cheapest cause a lot of the women are sacrificing their hair for religious purposes- in Hinduism it is called Tonsure. However importing from India is expensive when you include shipping and taxes hence why Indian bundle prices seem to be expensive (11)
Also less work is put into raw hair, it has to be washed, stitched and packaged. It can only come in these textures straight and wavy. Some Indian women have wavy hair, some have straight hair. If you see uniform curls, it’s been processed (12)
Raw hair is high maintenance and requires a lot of conditioning and you have to treat it as your natural hair hence why people deviate towards virgin hair. But virgin hair is expensive and there are so many Chinese vendors with their confusing naming systems (13)
Now let’s move onto location. If you want to start a hair company, your vendor needs to be in Qingdao, majority of the vendors are based in Guangzhou but they are trading companies
Trading companies work with different factories and inflate the price and sell the hair to you. They’re middle men essentially, majority of the hair in Guangzhou is Remy (I think this is 15)
Virgin hair is almost exclusively found in Qingdao. & this is where you need to source your vendor from. But virgin hair is expensive, as I’ve mentioned (16)
So when you buy hair from your Instagram sellers, you need to test it, when you bleach it, does it lift to 613? When you burn the hair does it smell like plastic? If it doesn’t lift to 613- it’s remy and if it smells like plastic it’s mixed w/ something funky (17)
Majority of these insta sellers are believing what their vendors say and are repeating it to you (the customers), but do they know if the factory is using soft water or hard water to wash the hair? Is it stitched on a 3-headed machine? (18)
Hair shedding is not a hair quality issue per se, but more of a stitching issue, has the factory stitched it and sealed with glue? The hair should not be shedding unless you have cut the tracks (19)
All of these things are crucial when buying hair, if you’re looking for longevity and switching up styles often, go for raw or virgin hair. If you’re looking for simple, not too advanced hair please seek a high quality Remy hair supplier. Ask the important questions (20)
What colour will it lift to? Are the cuticles aligned naturally or manually? (21)
Now let’s move onto pricing. Some of your insta vendors are gonna hate me for this. Chances are you’re being bumped. I’m going to give you an example of a price list from a Remy vendor- majority of the hair being sold is Remy (22)
This is price per bundle in dollars for Remy hair, majority of hair on the market. Look at the prices and compare this to what your insta seller is pricing you (23)
The aim of this thread is so you ladies can stop being bamboozled by these extortionate hair companies for subpar hair. I’m going to finish this thread with pictures/videos of different hair types. If you have any questions let me know (24)
Oh yeah, if you want to go to manufacturers direct and buy single donor Chinese virgin hair the MOQ is 20-50pcs, this is what allows resellers to sell it for profit, it is not accessible to someone who wants to buy it for retail price (25)
This is Raw Indian Hair sourced from Indian temples (26)
Raw Cambodian Hair (27)
Raw Vietnamese Hair (my personal favourite) (28)
Chinese Single Donor Virgin Hair (29)
High quality Remy hair it looks almost identical to Virgin hair but the difference is in how it bleached (30)
Remy Hair Price List, you can see 9A, 10A etc, but what does this actually mean?? It’s just a marketing tactic and a way to get you to spend more money (31)
I’m launching my hair company soon (June 1st) and I’m here to innovate and transform and bring transparency to the industry. I’m not doing it solely for profit, cause there barely is any when you deduct shipping, taxes, packaging etc. But I want to provide a service (32)
I will have Raw, Virgin and Remy hair available and these HD frontals 😍😍 (33)
This is what single donor virgin hair will bleach to. I used a 20 developer (34)
