1/ So yeah they climb up the mountain and are met by Red Skull (who ofc they recognize from Coulson's CA stories) and he tells them his whole spiel "what you love" and all that, so of course Fitz launches into a soliloquy telling Jemma why it should be him

2/ (think of all his other speeches, this is those dialed up to 11) and they kiss for what he thinks is the last time b/c he plans to just yeet himself off the cliff b/c he believes he "deserves it", but Jemma will not let go b/c she knows exactly what he's planning, instead

3/ something clicks in her brilliant mind and she faces the void and starts talking. Listing every single scientific fact/theory/etc., all her knowledge as it comes to her, in a nearly incomprehensible stream

4/ B/C before Fitz entered her life her first and biggest love is science itself, and she pours all of that love and experience out of her soul (b/c RS never said specifically you had to sacrifice a person.) and they end up sitting on the cliff's edge

5/ for hours holding hands until she finally goes quiet, drained. They wake up in the lake thing, an orange glimmer emitting from their intertwined fingers.

Now, when they return, this isn't to say she is then /un/intelligent (b/c knowledge =/= intelligence), but it's a different kind of smarts. Maybe she becomes a great tactician, or, given the cosmic direction the show has taken, a brilliant navigator?

Whatever she decides to go into, I'd want to see how she & Fitz handle the adjustment to their lab routine, b/c no she's not dead and he's so grateful for that & still loves her so much but she's not /there/ like she used to be.

Also their respective actors are so amazing and deserve all of the awards, I wanna see how they'd portray this shift in dynamic.
