what kind of delusions of grandeur do you have to have to think making terrible makeup videos on youtube for your koreaboo followers (absolutely none of which are korean) makes you a “kpop insider”.....
to everyone asking what happened, i tweeted this in response to a recent clip of him addressing his video where he bashed kyla for her weight, defended knetizens who humiliated her, and defended fatphobia.
here’s excerpts from the original clip. beyond publicly humiliating a teenage girl for her body, he talks about her weight as if it’s some horrible disease she has to live with, justifies fatphobia as “acceptable cultural differences,” and dismisses skinny privilege.
his dismissal of systematic oppression extends to racism. he ignores media brainwashing and deep-rooted colorism and goes on to cite the glorification of pale skin in korea as just “personal preference.” then he proceeds to dismiss the racism black and brown people experience....
more of him invalidating black ppl who have admitted to experiencing racism in korea. kind of ridiculous how eager he is to talk about an issue he has no experience dealing w and then silence a victim of oppression to defend a society that he isn’t even a part of
it’s also weird that he’s been living in korea for nearly a decade yet has made little to no effort of learning the language. he’s unable to form complete sentences or read at even a 3rd grade level; he doesnt care abt korean culture and is really just a kboo chasing korean dick.
in conclusion, edward avila is an out of touch idiot incapable of examining anything more deeply than at surface level, an insufferable kboo trying to erase his filipino identity, & an incompetent makeup "guru" whose success comes from pandering to gay fetishizing kboo fangirls.
if u wanna watch a gay asian boy doing makeup and reviewing k-beauty, then go watch ivan lam! he's super cute, actually good at makeup, and socially conscious! and he uses his platform to discuss inclusivity, which is a huge breath of fresh air from the bigotry edward spreads
