my fav part of stanning nct dream is their use of surreal humor. other groups even if they’re just a few years older don’t quite use surreal humor and i used to chalk it up as they’re korean and the humor in that society is completely different but nct dream regularly use it

i don’t even know if surreal humor is the best way to describe it but their humor comes from the sense that things don’t make sense but there’s still a semblance of connection like even self proclaimed “no fun” jeno uses it.

for example, idk how this started and it doesn’t make sense!! like it doesn’t?? but they keep replacing ever lyric they can with Renjun’s name and it’s just bdbdbdbnddhd so fUNNY

nope never mind just remembered how it started but but it was just them fucking with the lyrics and then go’s beginning from 다 똑같은 얘기 to 어깨깡패 런쥔 (shoulder gangster renjun) and then the NA NA NA NA but even that is funny because ??? +

shoulder gangster refers to someone with intensely broad shoulders and Renjun,,, baby i love u and ur tiny shoulders mwah but them ironically calling him shoulde gangster and they actually introduce him like that and confuse hosts sometimes but they don’t even explain+

i have asked my older korean friends (bc i don’t have ones around my age shhh shut up) and they all have no idea what they’re doing there is a weird connection but it’s so subtle

like even fluent older koreans don’t get it, i just think it’s a game that references meme culture in korea bc at one point jisung goes “back back to microphone base check” which is a BTS lyric and like I have no idea what’s happening and it’s so funny then renjun+

bringing in that millennial genz “i want to die” humor but it’s not the “i want to die” that’s funny but renjun quickly anticipating the lack of reaction like “oh did i say something wrong” which is just like hNnNnNg doesn’t makeSENSE BUT IT DOES

and then fucking jeno’s big advanced brain made a pun so advanced it transcended languages, was super fucking gay and basically told mark a big “fuck you”. because in Japanese( they were in Japan) jeno says ‘7’ which means nana. so he’s here for jaeminshbs
