In small east European towns, waitresses work for 2 euros an hour.
After spending a few weeks in town, I quickly got a reputation as a big tipper.
I’m not particularly generous. I just don’t like to carry coins. So I would always round up to the nearest note.

If a bill is 11 euro I leave a 20 (4 hours work)
But if the bill is 9 I leave a 10. Less of a tip.
Last few days, as I finished my meal this 18 year old girl would sometimes say "Andrew! You like a coffee or tea?" After I finished eating.
And other times not offer at all.

I realised she had learnt my tipping habbit and was doing the math on my orders.
She would only offer me something to bring the bill over the next 10 for the maximum tip.
So today I ordered my food and drinks to exactly 21 euro.

And just as I thought, when I finished she didn’t offer me coffee.
She didn& #39;t want me to spend 24/25, it would eat into her cash. As I was going to pay 30 regardless.
This impressed me.
Every other waitress is brain dead wandering through their shift...

she found herself a little hustle. She& #39;s smarter than the rest. She does the same work, still waits tables, but is getting paid more.
This can be applied to the greater population, most people work.
But never make serious money.
They don& #39;t pay attention.

I like clever people who find a little side income. After all, it& #39;s how I became rich in the first place. I found so much side income I didn& #39;t need a main income and now I don& #39;t have a job.

I was once her. While everyone around me worked I did the same job and got more money, there is ALWAYS a way.
Me and her are the same type of person, I respect that.
I respect the noticing of my pattern and the manipulation of it in her favour. That& #39;s boss behaviour.

So today I pointed out how clever she was.
She was embarrassed and tried to pretend she didn’t know what I meant.
She said sorry over and over.
I explained there was no need to apologise, and she can go very far with that view on life.
She smiled.

Today I left a bigger tip than usual.
I hope it encourages her to never change.
