Hey y'all! Welcome to our developing thread on Imperialism. Yes, that world war 2 word that they do not teach well in school.

Here, at least, there will be tangible examples. (But not all at once).

First, some general thangs
Lenin defined Imperialism as a stage in the development of our society’s current economic system, kkkapitalism. Wealth was consolidated, smaller early companies merging and failing, to give way to corporations holding massive monopolies on industry.
We still live under them (Disney, Comcast, etc). Corporations based in the US and Europe control industry across the globe.

This system of control has proven so efficient, that the wealthiest 8 capitalists hold as much wealth as the bottom 50% of the WORLD.
Consider just these 4 industries:
This wealth gives the owners leverage over foreign governments because they can control trade (economy and material goods) and lobby their governments to sanction uncooperative nations such as North Korea (DPRK), Zimbabwe and Venezuela
This means that many non-Euro nations (the Global South) endure attacks on their sovereignty, and their peoples suffer under the demands of the West. The Global South is threatened into ceding its natural resources and manpower to corporations in the West.
As Black people, constantly fighting to be free and decide our own fate, we understand how the West (aka da yts/colonizers) uses every system to force their will and suppress our power. We owe support to ALL peoples struggling for national independence.
Liberation of the Global South puts pressure on the US/Europe/corporations. If capitalism is not growing, it’s shrinking. Where will the elite get the natural resources and cheap labor needed to ensure their profits?! Every independent nation inhibits the spread of capitalism.
It doesn’t matter what they look like. Whether socialist like Vietnam, Cuba, and DPRK; or Arab nationalist like Libya, Syria, or Iraq--as soon as they begin to build in the service of their people, the US interferes.
Many of those leaders we were taught to be villains are people who desire to do right by their country and people. Glaring examples include Muammar Gaddafi, Kim Jong Un and his father Kim Jong-Il, and Fidel Castro.
